SOHC Build questions..
So pretty much im looking to build a 1.6 vtec SOHC for my 96 Coupe. You ask why a SOHC? Cause im tired of people saying oh you have a SOHC honda rofl... your slow. im looking to build one in lets say the 350--400hp mark. Most of were i live is a bunch of stock H22 preludes, and DSMers, who think they know everything and more about building motors. I know with money, you dont need time if you have enough money (LOL) i can reach that 400hp mark without a problem just like a few tips from people that have experianced SOHC builds on which way i should go...
Also just in case some ask why im not building my 03 civic? i have future plans for her

Just want to build something different.. and new to the SOHC scene lol always did DOHC builds and ive been doing alot of research for about 3 days and not really get to much of an idea or ideas of what i want..
a vitara build, done right, should handle 350 - 400 hp.

look into getting eagle rods and vitara pistons and a stock z6 head, with either a sohc ex or Si tranny, and that will get you in a good direction. I love people that hate on single cams. we can have fun too. basically your **** is slow unless you have a turbo in my oppinion. it varies but generally thats the rule of thumb.
lots of people make LOTS of powa with sohc's.

you know having 600hp civic boosted is just for bragging rights.... i mean, look at that video, nice sohc set up. over 600 horses. but also watch the boost spike. as soon as the turbo spools he will spin tires all through the gears till 4th or 5th, 4th with a vicious CHIRP lol, so its possible, vitara pistons eagle rods headwork then boost, but if you just kept at around 250hp, you will be much more happier without having to worry about boost spikes and loosing traction. bet, ek vs ek, both built but one with 16g turbo, one with t3/t4, first one putting down 250-300, the other 550 hp. bet the 16g 250-300 hp set up would win due to not losing traction. but if you want that much power..600hp, then your just looking out to brag...... also turbo size matters, cause you dont want big *** steep f****** lines like the video above me lol, nice video though....or you can try a 600hp N/A but that is NOT FREAKING LIKELY LOL

ive never heard of 400 on a y7 i say swap a z6 or y8 in and build that im pretty sure a y7 wouldnt be able to take that kind of power i could be wrong ive never built a d-series before.

yea If I had to do my sohc build what I would do differently is make sure your cam lines up with your manifold lol. I have a N/a cam and they like long runners my manifold is a log and they dont mingle well. once i get my ramhorn I should be making decent power. only making 280 right now from a mustang dyno
lmao...vitara pistons will make 350-400 easy and wont break the bank
here ill point out everything thats wrong with your post
-vitara pistons are for boost setups
-eagle rods ****ing suck
-you say he'll get 350-400 with just, "TURBO FORGED PISTONS", eagle rods, crank pulley, and TURBOZ but you failed to specify any details like what setupp you reccomend him to go with what kind of tune he should go with etc..
so dude you suck go home.

vitaras are good but if your ballin just go with forged pistons for more assurance, and i would say eagle rods are good, my old setup made over 300whp with vitaras and eagle rods, IF you want to go for a "bullet proof" setup , http://hondamarketplace.com/showthread.php?t=2670208
I have vitaras and eagle rods boosting 9psi and making 230whp, 228 ft lbs of torque and if I didn't have a boost leak somewhere I could possibly make 280-300 easy. More than 300 whp on street tires would be crazy, every time I gun it in 2nd gear my tires break loose. Just saying.

sounds about right, my friends making 217whp with the same exact setup but 8 psi, he spins tires throughout 2nd gear aswell
dyno queens are good for 2 things:
1)drag racing(sometimes, unless its a 1000hp civic on street tires, which happens.........then ill bet my stock 93 si outruns it in every race except top speed)
2)impressing the morons that dont know any better and just want to see big numbers. they dont know/care how fluid the power is, and they know/care even less about torque.
and slow is a relative term. straight line acceleration is nice, but what about cornering, brakes, the feel of the car. any moron can make a car go fast. its too easy with boltons, kits, parts, boosters, power packages, etc. making a car do EVERYTHING well is not that simple.
