Default B18A swap questions

I am strongly considering this as my engine swap. I know a guy with Si EF and he said he run a 15 flat once and he isn't really a racer or anything so I'm sure I could get into a high 14 which is more than fine for me.

Basically I wanted to know how much it would cost for everything I need and where can I get this engine, it's from a 90-91 Teg (possibly 90-93). And I want to do the swap myself but I won't attempt it without some good instructions, so where could I get some?

You'll want the motor from a 90-91 teg, since honda switched to obd-1 as of 92. You pretty much want the entire drivetrain: complete motor, trans, intermediate shaft and axles. Also, make sure you get the distributor, alternator, and the L shaped rear motor mount bracket.
If your car is an SI, all you need to do is remove the entire engine harness from your stock motor and wire it up to the LS. Its a tight squeeze in places, but it fits without too much trouble.
For the instalation, the easiest way is to purchase a mount kit such as Hasport or HCP. I recommend the HCP over the hasport. Its cheaper, and comes with the shift linkage.

the swap has to be the eaisest out there. i love mine. did it in a day with my friend. hasport mounts are sick! i have a si, so it was just plug and play. ive the 92-93 motors are better. i have a 93, the only thing you do is get a pr4 ecu, a 90-91 dizzy, and use si injectors. the complete swap with a brand new in box clutch was $1200.

hybrid hatch is most correct. I've seen the HCP mounts and Hasport mounts up close and personal. I do like that HCP are cheaper...but remember in this business you get what you pay for my Hasport mounts are about 5 times...(and I mean that literally)thicker than the HCP mounts. With the torque from the LS...I promise you'll break an HCP mount. I'm currently droppin' my LS in and I will post pics galore of before during and after of course. Here's a pre shot

The HCP mounts are made of steel. The reason your hasport mounts are thicker is because they are aluminum, so that HAVE to be thicker so they dont break. There are a ton of people on here that have broken Hasports old aluminum mounts, but you never ever hear of people breaking a HCP mount. If you get hasport, get the new billet kit.

I have nothing against the Hasport, but telling people the hcps are junk is uncalled for, since you dont have any facts to back that up.

the best place to get help is on a board. dont attempt it unless your mechanically inclined, and have a all the tools you need.i dunno about out there but in cali you can pick up the complete b18a1 swap for about a grand. plus plan on spending a couple hundred on liitle stuff.

I'm pretty mechanically inclined, I have yet to fail any task I have set out to do on my car so I have a good record now.

Funny how you dont even own a B20. Funny how this post is about an LS swap, not a B20. Funny how HCP mounts hold up fine for so many people w/ heavily boosted motors, including my own. Funny indeed, Mr acura-honda.net moderator.

Props to speekphreak (happy now )

And dont worry about the swap, its not much harder than replacing a stock motor.
Also, check the tech sections at http://www.hasport.com .

I have a 92 LS in my 89 Si hatch and I did 14.6 with it and it's low on compression and the total cost for me in CAN funds was just under 1200 for the motor and new clutch and HASport mounts. We did the swap in 4 hrs with 3 ppl and was easy to do.....

thats an awesome site. i wish i would have known about it before i started my swap in febuary (and i'm still not done). a nine month swap gets to be really demotivating. good luck on the swap hopefully i'll know how the car runs really soon.
