Default KYB vs Bilstein

My driverside front strut is out. Thus, I might as well replace both front shocks. I am looking to get the best bang for my buck. I am only expecting to have my car for another year or so. I have some questions for all you suspension guys--

I am debating between the KYB AGX shocks & the Bilstein Sport shocks, both running with lowering springs. I've heard great reviews about both brands & models, but I believe the Bilsteins don't come adjustable.

What do you guys think of both models? Can I get away with just replacing the front struts since the rears don't seem to be bad? Will these shocks mount up directly to the factory mounting bolts & position?

Personally, I like the KYB's. I've had great servicability and no warranty issues to speak of. I particularly like the AGX's for the externally adjustable feature. (You don't have to disassemble anything (like some European examples)) to make your adjustments.

You CAN replace just the fronts for now, but I can assure you that the desire to replace the rear will come pretty quick. You may notice some looseness in the rear until you can tighten up the rear dampers as well.

Thanks P_
Your input always helps.

Does anyone have anything to say about Bilstein Sport struts? (Not the HD's, but the shocks made for lowered applications.)

Both are excellent, if you go with KYBs up front, use the same out back. Ditto for bilsteins or generic crap too.

I will say that you should replace the struts at all four corners as they're all the same age, and if one (or two) are bad, then the others aren't far behind. I had this happen on my Jeep.

Front pass shock leaked and was 'really bouncy' so I replaced the fronts, and within 2 weeks a rear shock started leaking badly and I had to replace the rears. Might as well have switched them all at once.
