I noticed the other day my ABS light came on, and when it did, everytime i was stopped at a light the rpms would go up on their own nad then settle down....and sometimes when i would just roll in neutral coming to a stop with the clutch down the rpms would move inbetween 2k-3k on its on until i was fully stopped.....any ideas??

and the abs light would turn on and off randomly, i cehcked my brake fluid level and thats fine.

 

so update to this, the abs light is gone....but now i see that if im comin to a stop the rpms automatically shoot up to 3k and stay there until i compeltely stop, then after a couple secs they drop all the way down to 900 and idle fine. and then i wil drive again and if put it in neutral while im roling it does the same thing, and occasionally it will just flucuate from 1500-3k on its own...any ideas?....this out of the blue started to hapen, the car is basiclly stock

Check if the throttle cable is too tight.

 

checked the throttle cable and thats fine...is there any possible way that a malfunction in the abs system could cause teh rpms to jump like that?..cause its just weird that when the light did come on thats when it started...someone also said to check the IAC but havent gotten a chance to yet

 

The ABS computer is independent of the ECU. You can pull the ABS codes like you would the ECU codes. You just read the ABS light pulses.

 

ok i need some clarity, is your motor revving up causing the tach to read high, or is the motor staying a consistent rpm with just the tach bouncing around?

 

after ive been driving for alil bit if i put it into neutral just to coast the rpms will automatically rise to 3k and wil stay there until i make a complete stop after a sec it will go down to 900rpms...and on occassion instead of just staying at 3k it will flucuate from 3k down to 1500 and just keep doing that for alil bit and then wil go back to 900 and idle normal

 

sounds like IACV is starting to take a dump

 

i cleaned the iac and it was dirty but its still doing the same thing, only after ive been driving, if i turn the car off and turn it back on it idles fine but after some driving it will just flucuate not sure where to check next..tps sensor?

 

Check vaccum and pcv system
