so im looking into buying a 4dr type R, its a 96. its salvage title (due to theft, says the owner) so the motor was stolen, the owner put a b20(still has ac/ps), and the recaros were stolen, so it has gsr leather fronts, it still has the type R rear seats, steering wheel etc, basically the only things missing are the original motor and recaros, theres no frame damage i went to go see it already it looks clean nothing major. the car is registered already, he wants 5,300. basically i want to know if this is a good price ? any POSITIVE input is appreciated, thanks !

 

If they made a 4 door Type R then damn, I have really been living under a rock.

Well i'll be damned they really did make one. I read only JDM models in 96 and 97 had this option.

 

if i do get it i plan on getting the type R recaros back in and eventually getting a type R back in there

The JDM DB8 ITR (four door) was produced in Japan only years 95-00. Their wasn't a whole lot made each year, production was very limited. The year with the most produced DB8 ITR's was 1996 with 2,292 produced, the least produced was the '00 with 229 produced.

1996 is the year that 2,292 were made. in 1998 they made 915
