Default RHD conversion help needed

im starting to look at doing a RHD conversion on my 96 ek hatch, and after hours of searching i cant get any estimates on the parts im going to need engine wise, i know i need a rhd dash, and everything that goes in that, but what i dont know is, engine wise what do i need? and as far as the best way to do this conversion, im guessing is by cutting out the firewall as ive seen many people do it this way with better results.. so all in all whats the price range from buying the clip to any bolts i may need?

You can use just about any engine you want. RHD conversions are not for the faint of heart. If you're still new to this sort of work I would leave it to the pros.
As far as the parts you need, contact a company like Hmotorsonline or another company that deals with engine swaps and front clips.

I did a RHD conversion to my 99 Prelude. Definitely took some time, but was worth it in the end, cause I get asked about it all the time cause I've never seen a Prelude in my area, I've only seen civics, integra, couple of r34's. You can probably find an RHD clip on ebay, www.rimsandthings.com, www.hmotorsonline.com or even just google I did the whole conversion in my backyard

i did a rhd conversion on a cavalier, really wasnt too bad but i do body work everyday, i wouldnt suggest this as your first project of this nature you could really quickly mess up a car. i do suggest buying a clip with a dash, steering and rack like suggested above, heres some pics of when i did the swap

If you buy a front clip, it should already come with everything you need including the wiring. Before buying it, I'd either call the company first or email them to see what exactly comes with the clip.

As for the motor harness, I was able to use the US motor harness and it connected just fine to the interior harness perfectly fine, but there are a few extra clips that don't do anything. You can reuse your current motor mounts, cause the motor will still sit the same.

I did a 98 dc2 rhd conversion. the hardest part after the clip is the body harness. there are other little things that are hard also like carpet, the tailgate pull cable, the gas door pull cable, both are cut when you get a clip and leaving them on the, now passenger side floor, is gay. where abouts in NY are you?

an its a hard thing to face when u walk in to ur garage an look at this every day

to me it was worth it in the end i have to say the looks u get going down the highway are the best lol

Every time I drive my RHD Prelude, I always get strange looks and asked all types of questions about it...After I sell it, I'll probably be building another one.

I've heard good things about them. I know another guy who's doing an RHD conversion to a BB6 bought his front clip from them.

yea they are pretty cool ... I am getting my 3 stage d15b from them (only with 16k miles ) complete with the ultra mega rare P2J manual ecu from a front half cut. The wiring harness and the rest of the half cut will be going to someone who is doing a rhd conversion ... at least thats what the guy said.

IMO RHD conversions are a pain in the *** to do, and even a BIGGER pain to drive (when you have to pass someone on the highway, with 1 lane going each way for example) - not worth the prestige IMO

Damn, if you lived in my area, I'd definitely help out. I actually think I have a guy who'll be flying me out to NY in March or April to help him do his RHD conversion to his BB6, but have to wait for him to come back from Iraq

i finished an ek conversion not long ago. just make sure you keep the us vin number on the ek it's no joke. i do a solid weld on both side and stay away from spot welding. click on my signature on you can see the process for the ek. i did keep the vin number on the ek but it helps that i have good history with the VIN officer. you can pm me and i can walk you through it. good luck.

buy this it will make it so much easier and much cleaner. drill a small pilot hole first with a small drill bit and then use the spot weld cutter.

as for your engine the motor really does not matter but the rhd engine harness is a bit longer you can make the us one work by extending some wires not that hard to do.

Bridgeport: what is need to be done with the VIN? I have a DB8 and looking to do a firewall conversion but don't want to run into issue regarding the VIN?

What part of the VIN number did you keep from the EK. Did you cut the JDM vin out of the firewall and welded the USDM in its place. Did you remove the VIN from the USDM dash and place it on RHD Dash were it would normally be..

I live in Santa Clarita and cops out here are no joke.

If you can hit me up on audi2001a4@gmail.com

thanks for the info.
