So there is a loud rotating sqeeking noise emitting from my car and I take it in to my local machanic. Turns out it is my A/C compressor bearing. It makes the sound only when the A/C button is not pressed on, so thats a clue. He says I can't rebuild it and that he will install a new one for like 600 dollars...YIKES. Is it true that I can't rebuild one? Thanks in advance

 

$600 is way tooooo much. JUst to go a junkyard and pick up a used one for $75-$150 bucks and they are very easy to install.
