ok heres the problem and i'm trying to contact any mechanics who could help me with my
problem.

My car randomly wouldnt start the other day. We checked the battery and it was
good.

We towed it to the shop and they said it was the distributor because it wasnt getting spark.

My friend replaced the distributor because I had him buy the $165 dizzy at autozone instead of the $350 one at the shop. It still wont start.

The mechanic at the shop said he smelt something burning and that the dizzy had burnt out, either by them doing something or the constant cranking.

the wires still arent getting spark. He is checking the wiring and fuses and so far everything is fine.

The dizzy cap and wires are brand new and the plugs are a lil black but still fairly new. It ran perfectly fine the day before. i'm SO lost to what it could be...

and they wanna charge me $75 bucks for NOT telling me what the problem is. any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked whether the timing belt snapped?

Are the coil and igniter unit new? Have you tested them? Does the dizzy get battery voltage with the key in ON(II)?

Any CEL codes?

Timing belt is perfect. the cap and wires are brand new. The dizzy will spin when u crank it. and it's not throwing any codes but a while back when i checked for it, it was showing a VSS sensor code but i believe that was cuz my vss is wired weird.

Have you tested the coil and igniter unit inside the distributor? Does the dizzy get battery voltage?

when i swapped out my dizzy, it didn't want to start, then I ground one of the spark. Car start right up. Check for ground?
also pull all your spark plugs and dry or clean them with a towel/rag.
