h22 swap in my eg what best ecu to use
just dropped an h22 in my hatch people keep telling me to get a p28 or p13
what is the best ecu to use? planning on chipping it with hondata and 2 step?
and what would be the difference between using a manual ecu and automatic ecu?

If you are going to chip it or get hondata, you need a p28. But don't run the motor on a virgin p28 though. If you are not going to chip or and not going to get hondata (which is fine) you use a p13. I use a p13 with my H22 EG swap.
If the ecu is going to be chipped he can pretty much run any board he wants, as long as it's OBD1. P06, P08, P30, P72, the list goes on.
I realize that. But he asked about 2 certain ecus, so I gave him the information he needed. Instead of posting more ecus codes, like you did, confusing him even more. Thanks
Sorry, i didn't know you were the information authority here at honda-tech.
PR4's and P06's will more than likely be cheaper and more common than a P28 or a P30, and you will end up with basically the same thing once they are chipped.

The P13 is a pain in the *#* to chip and P06, P05, PR4 will have to be converted to Vtec ecu's with the use of some extra parts. The auto and manual won't matter once u have the ecu's chipped but the simplest thing to do is use a manual P28, P30, or P72. If u want to keep the knock sensor ability then use the P72
^^^^ don't listen to him. i believe all modded engines should be at LEAST street tuned. contact phearable.net and have them make an ecu for your exact setup. it would get you by for the time being and you'd be able to daily drive it. all their ecu's are hondata compatible as well. then, when your funds permit, get the s300 and have it PROPERLY tuned.
Thats what i've always heard as well.
Correct
P06s and P28s actually share the same boards in some cases (there were a couple of different boards used) The P06s simply lack vtec components and have different maps, once chipped and converted there really shouldn't be any difference.
Somewhat correct, it doesn't really matter if you have an automatic or manual ECU. But you don't even have the chip the ECU to convert it, you simply have to remove RP17 and RP18 and replace RP18 with a jumper wire (this assumes you have a P06 or P28) I'm not entirely sure if you can do anything through software.
I agree. P30 and P72 both utilize a knock sensor though. Perhaps you meant IABs? Which the H22 does have. My personal choice for an H22 would be a chipped P72 for that reason.
