Newbie who wants to make a Integra type-r
hello all here at the honda-tech forums
it recently occured to me(well not that recent, probably a while) that i can get my license in a year or so, so ive been looking at cars. ill be driving a buick regal for a while, but its a first car and we all get tired of them usually.
so i was thinking of making a type R, but i have no clue what id need besides the car and a engine swap.
i want to keep the car around 8000 dollars, and if i have to buy an older integra, so be it, i like the look of the 94 hatchback anyways
i was actually thinking of any model that looks like this one

Did you not read? First, 8k for an ITR is going to be beat up, secondly this is her first car, third I would guess no garage and lastly probably doesn't know about the theft issues.
i just read up on a thread in this forum about theft issues.
the car has been known to be towd away on flatbeds, broken into without a sound.
oh and yeah i have a garage
so that one up there ^^^ the one i showed is a K20A conversion, DC5R motor. just got info on it.
under the hood.
but ive never heard of a DC5R motor before? and what makes a type-r a type-r, care to shed some light on it for me please?

First off, if you buy anything with a B series Vtec motor its gonna be targeted for theft (specially a Type R). USDM is a US version of a car, JDM refers to a japanese product/car. Type R's have alot of unique things that make them a special car. Suspension is upgraded, brakes, interior, motor, lots of things. That car you posted a pic of with the K20A engine is an expensive swap. The DC5-R is the Integra (RSX) Type R, thats what the K20A motor comes out of. There is alot of info about Type R's if you search around, and im sure Wikipedia has alot of info as well.
Sounds like you have a lot to learn.
I'd give him a chance. He doesn't sound like the ReneR guy..
u'd seem to be the person to show off ur type r and get it stolen forsure get a stock ls, and put a damn type r wing on it to make u happy lol...
What makes you want to get a type r so bad? no offense but judging by your knowledge of cars and motors I think you would be best suited for a gsr or ls if you like the bodies of integra's. It sounds like your buying it for the name. Hence, why people call type r's "hype r's."
If you find a "Nice" Type R for 8 grand, let me know. I will buy it today.
To the OP, (original poster). You would be hard pressed to put one of these cars together even from a theft recovery shell for under 10k. A JDM K20 from a DC5 R is 5-6k for the full swap, plus another 2 grand for axles, harnesses, mounts, etc.
You can find some rebuilds of beat to **** cars with incorrect interior, GSR/B16 motor swaps, etc in the 8-10k range, but again, they will not be even close to what I would classify as a "nice" Type R. One of those may be a starting point, but it would cost you double your money in time and materials to get it to a good level.
Save your money, drive your buick and pick up an R in a year or 2.
best advise so far, and in that year or two keep doing your research kiddo, you will find anything you want to know about pretty much any chassis in the FAQ's. (frequently asked questions) You will find much more info there, rather than making a thread. Best of luck!
I love the type R too but tbh kid its not a 'starter' car. The R is a car you get once you know what your doing and can take car of your stuff. if you want a honda that bad get an ef, eg, or crx. all are nice cars.
thanks guys, i appreciate the wisdom, i just learned a LOT right now.
im not the one too throw in a B type engine and scream to the world "DUDEZZ I GOTS A B16A IN MY INTEGRA" i mine as well say " DUDESSS FREE ENGINEE".
and the whole reason is that my dad recently got in an accident at work so hes been out of work for about a year now. hes pretty sure he wont be goin back to work so he'll have nothing to do (besides rebuild his el camino). soo as i say ive always wanted a ITR, and since my dad is a mechanic, i thought it would be fun to make a conversion. i will be learning too, im going too take all the auto classes my high school has to offer including some ROP in senior year, im really interested in cars. specifically Japanese model cars.
I understand the ITR isnt the best choice for a Street car, but i do plan to race one day. thats pretty much my dream, to build a car with my dad and race. not like a drag race, more like a touge race.
ill continue to stick around these forums, dont worry i wont spam or anything. itll pretty much be questions, if they start to get annoying, just tell me. i wont get mad at ya.

If you truly want to build your car and take the time to learn about it, respect it, and be responsible with it, etc. then just buy a type-r shell and put it together. By the time you have a full product you might take care of it and respect it as one should.
ReneR. I think you are a compulsive liar!
