1991 Accord EX Sport Mode problem
I have a 91 Accord EX automatic that won't go out of Sport Mode--nothing happens when I press in or out the sport mode button and the light in the dash stays on either way. The transmission shifts ok up to third but stays in third (Sport Mode). It's annoying when driving because of the high revs, especially on the highway. Anyone have a clue as to what might be causing this? Thanks.
I know what you mean because I took that button apart and it was a hell to get back together again....it seemed ok, with no faults. Any ideas on how to get the normal shift patterns back?
trans controller!?! That is like saying the ECU is bad because of a check engine light. If you pick up a helms manual it can give you some diagnostic tips on that condition. I know that certain "S" light patterns are like engine codes for the tranny. Sometimes it is an indicator that you need a new VSS.
What is that sports mode all about? I have a '92 so yah I don't have it. Co-worker has a '91 and thought I must...but what's it all about considering it was gone after '91?

I have the Haynes manual and they leave most of the automatic transmission stuff out, as usual. I would not guess that the transmission ecu is the problem but more the speed sensor, like someone else suggested. I think that I have an extra one, so I will test it and see what happens.
i have had all of these problems with my 91 the light started to flicker on the highway at first then downshift to third and not go to fourth- i replaced the trans computer. then the spedometer became sporadic and started slipping or something so i replaced it with my friends jdm b16 electronic speed sensor. i was suprised but it worked! check the codes it will tell you whats up
