insurance on jdm front?
Someone backed up into me and smashed my jdm front earlier today. Bottom line, my front is literally gone. Does anyone know or have any experience with insurance dealing with jdm fronts due to the fact that it's "non-oem"? I'm not sure if it matters, but I have a 95 GSR. I just got my car back from the paint shop 2 months ago, and now I have to deal with all this crap again. Any insight would greatly be appreciated. Thank you
hey dude im pretty sure if u would show receipts you should be ok..but insurance companies as u know like to be complete douche bags...so they may consider the fact that its not factory they wont cover it
its on your car so they should cover it. my buddy use to have this ugly *** bodykit on his car and some dude hit him. the insurance paid for a brand new bodykit. ahaha but he took the money instead
As eg said if you have the receipts i wouldnt worry about it...If they give you any mess you might want to look into the small print on their policy and see if you can find any loop holes

Covering body kits is one thing. Asking insurance to cover an illegal front end might be different.
I'm curious to see what comes of it.
AAA refused a claim I made once because "anything that wasn't on the car when purchased new issn't covered", or so I was told over the phone. Maybe AAA just has one of the more evil policies, I only went with them because they were much cheaper than anything else.

well i'm curious too, because technically it is an OEM front end, what makes it illegal? are the headlights not DOT or something here in the US? i know jdm EG headlights are glass and not plastic like ours, so if thats the case i can see that for the head lights..
Glass vs. plastic is not as important as RHD vs. LHD. Then we also have this pesky law that pretty much states "anything not DOT approved is illegal" for headlamps.
