Looking for simple fix for lagging 3rd gear midrange...???
hey idk how many people noticed this besides me but i got a DC4 LS bone stock ... i kno my clutch is getting kinda close to the end of its life but ive always wondering why my teggy is so weak in the midrange for 3rd gear. its hella lags from like 3500-4000 ish but starts to pull harder again around 5000- 6850/redline... does anyone kno any simple bolt-ons to help. i kno i could do like cams, boost, or LS/VTEC but im tryin to stay cali emissions legal. and i dont have money for that right now.
SK2 makes a CARB legal cams. Also DC sports has their CARB legal header. AEM makes CARB legal intakes, or whatever has a K&N air filter. Clutch is a good way to boost acceleration, and a exhaust should pass reguardless. I live MN, so smog doesn't affect me. You can also pick up a GSR tranny, it will boost the power delivery of the LS. YOu won't gain any power, but you will feel the pull alot better. Third gear lags are common on a lot of cars. Swap the tranny, and you will feel the biggest difference.
thanks i never thought bout a tranny swap idk y lol i kno s2, aem, and dc got alot of decient parts im just hella broke ryte now... im livin in michigan
so emisssions dosent effect me either but i wanna keep it emissions legal cuz im plannign on goin back to cali sooner or later

Not to break your hopes man, but that's how most of stock ls integra are. I guess you never consider that ls integra has long *** ratios plus your clutch is going out.Get some better daily driven/street clutch, and you'll notice a little more grab at mid-range rpm. If you want better power/acceleration, just swap your tranny. No need to waste money on useless bolt on.

sweet i appricate all the help ... i kno the cars stock and that shyts wearing out but i could tell majorly that 3rd is lagging the most off all ... im liking the gsr tranny idea since my 3rd gear synchro is getting bad .... u think a stage 2 clutch be too much for the street ive heard people say thats its too hard to to but then i kno ppl that run a stage 3 for the daily driver
Get a GSR transmission, as the other dudes said. Skip a b16 tranny go straight for the stronger GSR.
Also, I'd just go with a stage 1 Exedy for drivability.

^ agreed. Exedy stg 1 works. I hear they are built a little more sturdy than OEM. I had one in my B20/gsr tranny combo, and it worked wonders.
I always prefered the tighter gears b16 trans or itr trans with lsd. When my gsr was stock I couldnt stand the gearing on the gsr trans.
It is a matter of opinion, and your opinion doesn't matter. J/K.
All on preference. Everyone around me runs the B16, I was the only one with the GSR tranny.

Well it depends on what you are going to do with your car, if you are going to build your engine then get a better tranny like what Slain said, but if you are going stock then the GSR is fine
im thinkin do the gsr for now cuz im trying to focus on suspension and bracing then once the car is on good suspension better then the shyt itz lowered on now... im planing a k20 turbo once everything else is taken car of.
What do you mean by the GSR is stronger? Most of the parts are the same internally besides the actual gear teeth count
