Question about my Honda Accord 1993 Anniversity Ed.
Hello all,
This is my 1st car (Honda Accord 1993 Anniversity Ed.), and I'm unfortunately a complete car newbie. And I got this car used (of course). But I do want the car to last as long as possible.
Where should I get an oil change? At the dealer or some random oil change store (Firestone?)
The antenna in the back will not go up. Is it worth going to replace the old power antenna up or not? Or is there some other solution.
Also there are a lot of small (not too deep) scratches are the key entry hole, should I patch that up? Will it rust? Mine is a green edition, where do you suggest to by the paint patch if needed to patch the paint?
Lastly for the key is it possible to get keyless entry system. Do I have to install it or is it already intergrated?
Thanks for reading and excuse my newness. I hope you get to know you all and my Honda Accord better soon.

Change your own oil.
Does the motor for the antenna run when you turn the radio on and off? If the motor works, the mast can be replaced. I have used Antenna Master masts (available on e-bay). If you're handy, the asembly can be removed from the car, disassembled, cleaned and relubricated. Cheaper option is to simply put a fixed antenna on.
Depending on how bad the scratches are, using a cleaner wax/polish around the key hole may improve the appearance a lot without much work.
I don't think Honda offered a factory keyless entry system on that year/model. If I am wrong, I am sure someone will correct me.

I would also recommend you change your own oil. But, it is personal preference.
At the dealer, it usually is more expensive. But, they will use a genuine Honda oil filter and replace the crush washer on the drain bolt. (If you go this route, look for oil change coupons on the dealer website first.)
Going to other oil change places may be hit or miss for the quality of the oil filter and they will usually not replace the crush washer. But, if you have the oil changed regular and they do not strip the drain bolt threads, then this may not be a problem.
I also agree ebay is the place to go for the antenna mast ($10 - $20), since the Honda OEM part is over $50. The mast is a simple replacement.
As fleetw00d said, polish and wax should improve the appearance of light scratches significantly.
I believe only the EX in that year had the keyless entry system. The 10th anniversary was an LX with additional cosmetics, ABS, etc.

Thanks for the answers, they are very helpful. More suggestions welcomed.
Also...On my key, there is no remote. If there was keyless entry, did the original owner switch it, am I suppose to get a new remote key?

On many of the older Accords, the remote was separate and not integrated with the key. When I had a 1995 Accord EX (5th gen), it had keyless entry with my alarm system. But, the remote was a separate unit.
On my current 2009 Accord (9th gen), it is part of the key.

IF you've the desire, tools and the ability to get the car up in the air, do it yourself.
If not, this lends itself to a larger answer to a larger question; Find an independent garage in your local area which specializes of Honda / Acura / Toyota etc. that has been in business for years. These are often owned (and operated) by former Honda / Acura / Toyota Dealer mechanics who've decided to go into business for themselves.
These shops are universally cheaper than dealership service departments, are more accommodating and offer the same level (if not better) of service.
The antenna in the back will not go up. Is it worth going to replace the old power antenna up or not? Or is there some other solution.
If you're prone to going thru Car Washes, a Power Retractable Antenna can make sense (Just for the convenience). They are prone to frequent breakage however due to inability to fend off water, ice and dirt; all of which conspire to do the antenna in.
A cheaper (and far more durable) alternative is a fixed antenna where the mast can be unscrewed from the base to avoid damage. If you can, find a replacement which incorporates an amplifier. You're dealing with a long, long antenna lead which has to go all the way to the dash, and a lot of signal is lost because of this.
Also there are a lot of small (not too deep) scratches are the key entry hole, should I patch that up? Will it rust? Mine is a green edition, where do you suggest to by the paint patch if needed to patch the paint?
If those scratches are down to the metal, you will have rust (eventually). Duplicolor makes a selection of touch-up bottles in all the available colors. A salesman at your local parts store (Death-Zone Auto Parts, Advanced Auto Parts, Napa ect.) worth his salt should be able to fix you up. The Paint code you will need is displayed on a sticker affixed to the drivers' door pillar.
Lastly for the key is it possible to get keyless entry system. Do I have to install it or is it already intergrated?
The 10th Anniversary addition did not offer key-less entry. The good news is that the car was equipped with power door locks, and with that you're off to a good start.
Why not install an aftermarket alarm which incorporates keyless remote entry? There are several excellent examples from Directed Electronics, the makers of both the Viper and Python series of alarms.

Not only will you have your remote entry, but the car's protected as well!

The Viper key system looks superb. But when I try to configuration it for a specific car, the oldest car it will let me select is the Honda Accord 1998. Are you sure it'll work on my 1993?

The Viper 5002 system had not problems installing into my '97 Accord. The '93 should be much the same.

All Directed Electronics offerings can be installed on '97 and earlier vehicles without additional considerations.
I hope this has cleared up any questions you had.

I looked into what you mentioned, and I believe that the '98 and later listings were in reference to an interface module. This component is required ONLY on '98 and later Honda/Acura. This has to do with the anti-theft provisions incorporated in the PCM and the BCM for '98 and later vehicles.

It's more component location and available space that is the most critical. There isn't much room for anything else under the dash, but most installers know where they can cram things.
.... and it's very, very important that the installer not be color-blind and have good eyesight. Picking out the correct wire to attach to while you're both upside down and in the dark can be problematic at best.
I would suggest downloading a copy of the installation manual for the system you're interested in first - And read it (several times) until you're comfortable with what's required. The wiring can get rather convoluted considering the programmable functions available.

put one on my 92, the wires for the door locks are in left kick panel way down on bottom, that works the door locks, you can mount the module near kink panel, you will have to loicate the other wires for lights and horn and there is a relay that disables the starter, i only put the door locks on mine. finding the correct wires is the hardest part
