I'm not sure how many of you are into hot rods, butif you are you know who Boyd Coddington is. The guy designs and builds THE best hot rod cars around. He did the car for ZZ Top and a whole bunch of other celebrity cars....

Anyway I was looking around for information on him and came across this:

Well, Clayton, I don't speak Japanese, but I'm guessing that it has to do with custom wheels. The mainframe of Boyd's business is custom wheels.

Appearantly, and get this, DooV is a sub-div of Honda that sells body kits and

custom wheels!! www.doov.co.jp

DooV (DO the Original Vehicle) was originally under ACCESS and Carried

such name as MHT, American Racing, B Coddington, California Custom.

Looks like they have moved on to their own and is selling packages similar to

the "Performance Package" currently offered in the US.

 

Boyd painted the Precision Power 97 Type R for the 97 SEMA show. Not in my taste but who am I. It's CW on top with Purple and Red on bottom. Some highschool kid in Phoenix has it now after PPI went belly up.

 

i meet him 1996 in reno hot august night. for him to built a street rod it start at $100,000 in 96. but he said he still not making any money to built street rod. he also said that he built alot custom wheels sell to japenese. but he does not like the idea use japanese engines on his street rod that he built. he has put japanese engines on two street rods that he built in the pass i know off. sounds like he didn't like japanese product. but he sell custom wheels to japanese. now he selling paint jobs in japan.
