need peoples opinion on salvage/cleantitle
whats up honda-tech hows everyone doing. So right now im stuck between a rock and a hardplace no homo.
I own a 95 integra rs w/ gsr swap all the bells and whistles blah blah
someone recently hit me _(side swipe on door and fender) and insurance company (progressive) is salvaging out my car...BOOO!
Before that accident it was pretty much time for a new paint job and upgrade to a Jfront. Since the accident occured insurance is giving me aclose enough amount of money to get a paint job and Jfront. id be paying only about 700 out of pocket.
Whats your guys opinion should I keep my car and keep the money and find another car or keep it and get the car painted and J front with a salvage title that was caused from the accident I was in?

It depends on what you want. My car has got a salvage title because it was stolen and recovered, but I don't care because I have no intention of selling it. I'm going to keep it as long as I can keep it running (and away from thieves). IMO if you're gonna keep the car for a long time, no worries about the salvage title.
Fresh teg I agreee with you 100 percent on that the value drops about 50 percent with my insurance company so if im getting 4500 back for the car i would get half that. Ive had offer for 5500k with no j front or paint job before. Although with the salvage title and the paint job and j front id be lucky if i could get that. although on the other hand like what GagnarTheUnruly says he dont plan on selling his car. like I plan on doing with mine. insurance still does full coverage on the car. So this is why im 5050 on what I want todo
If you really don't plan on selling it I'd keep it. You will have the car you want and only be out 700 as opposed to a few grand to do the j front and paint job out of your own pocket. But if you don't see holding onto the car long term, just take the insurance money and start over with something else.
somewhat less maybe but cars this old really sell based on condition. i would always pay more for a well maintained theft recovery salvage than i would a clean title car that's in questionable shape. just for example.
it only effects buyers who need to get a loan. many clean title cars have had the living hell beat out of them too since you're keeping the car i would have it fixed properly provided the damage isn't extensive and get it back where you want it.
so much of it really depends on how bad the damage is.
i sold my 99 gsr with a salvage title for around the same price as i would've if it had a clean title. for most people the condition of the car matters more than what's on the title. my 08 si has a salvage title too, i saved quite a nice chunk of $ versus buying one with a clean title (bought it straight from the auction).

and IF someone does indeed hit me again id be getting half the cost of what i got lastttime but its still full coverage non the less with my insurance company

If you're planning to keep the car screw the salvage title. How many people actually walk up to you and ask "Hey nice car! Is it salvaged?" that's like that gay survival commercial with the fine *** girl and that dumbass hitchiker that asked "Are you insured?" Yes "By survival?" No." I can't take that ride." ***!!!!

x2. i've been driving salvaged cars for the past 7 years and i've yet to have a single person notice anything about a car that'd say it's a 'salvage.' hell, most people though i bought my si brand new from the dealer; they were pretty surprised when they found out i actually bought it wrecked. don't let some extra writing on the title stop you from enjoying your car.
