Can you tell me if this oil pan is still any good?
I had a small yet noticable crack at the top ridge of the oil pan. There is no crack on the side.
Since the crack is mainly on the outside endge, I'm 98% sure that based on where the crack is there should not be a problem as long as I use a new gasket & torque it down tightly.

I cant see any pictures..You dont want to torque down the oil pan gasket anyway, it will cause it to split and it won't seal right, re upload the photo, If the crack is in the mating surface, your fine. But anywhere else that ***** going to leak. Welder'er up! or JB
lol nm, I see it now, shoot your fine! Just make sure to use RTV and Dont over torque the oil pan bolts and you will be fine. I can't tell but is it going down the pan too? Or is that some dirt or something?

I would double check it. I see the crack going thru the gasket area to the inside, unless that is a hair. Is that a nick or something also on the inside?(Pic#2)
It is definitely cracked on the back side of the bolt hole.

What happened was that a rod snapped and parts of it hit the inside of the oil pan.
However the crack did not go through the oil pan.
back in 04 I had a much larger crack on my gsr tranny case (also aluminum) and I used a special epoxy. Never had any issues with it since.

it does not have a crack on the side of the pan, only at the top.
Aluminum does not flex like steel, so over long period of use you will see "fine lines/cracks" that appear on the outside. For example look at any honda tranny and you'll see tons of them. It does not mean there is a crack/leak. I could take pictures on the inside of the pan and it would look perfectly fine with out any signs of stress, when the outside would show them.

the cure to your problem, ive been there and done it.
1) new pan gasket
2) honda bond both sides (lightly)
3) torque it to 10 pounds. i dont know who said not to torque the pan on but you are retarded. there is a torque spec for the oil pan for a reason. its 10 ft/lbs.

bro, i wasnt quoting one of your posts it was someone else. dont remember the username. i know you never said to over torque, the other guy said pretty much tighten the **** outta it.
