you need the harness and ecu. simplest way to do it. if you use the z6 harness and the obd II ecu. the computer will be looking for signals that arent there........so you get a CEL
there are things you can do to turn your obdII car into a obdI but most of the time that is ecu not the motor.
TO do that motor you wouldn't be able to get inspected because you would have no way to run the original OBDII ecu, unless you were able to get a OBDI harness to OBDII ecu adapter. i have not heard of this product but check around someone may make one for you

yes but he would need to run a OBD II ecu with a OBD I harness and that just doesn't work.
I know that there are conversion harnesses everywhere for converting OBDI ECU to OBD II harnesses there is a difference there. read your mag a little closer
