Need info on older mig welder.
Well i got my first mig welder today. its an older linde. Im having an issuse getting the wire to feed through the line to the gun. I think the problem might be it needs a new liner. It had aluminum in the gun when i first got it. it has a feed on the machine and a puller on the gun it self. I was wondering if i could just buy a newer style mig gun to put on it. im not sure what connections i have. Any info would help alot thanks.

a push-pull design is usually for alum. could be a piece of wire in the liner somewhere. feed it till it catches then mark the wire and then lay it next to it and see where the stoppage is. start from there i guess.
I pulled the liner out. it was broken 6inches from the gun. I Was looking on some websites. and im not sure which type of liner to get. im gonna try and go to a welding supply place tomorrow and see if they can help me out.
Thanks alot.
Thanks alot.
the aluminum liners are usually plastic... the steel wire rips right through it.
usually a welding supply store will be able to help you out real quick.. make sure you write down your model number and maybe even serial number.. that way if they ask, you can tell.. be sure that you got the right size feed rollers too.. the wheels usually say the thickness on it somewhere.. i.e. .035"

Question. if i use a liner for steal do i have to switch it over for alum?
Ill have to check the roller size. thanks for the help

ahh. the liner i pulled out was plastic.
I wonder if id be better off going with a newer gun made for steel. The gun that is on it has a puller motor in it i believe. What type of connection would be on my unit?
