y8 into ef sedan wiring questions
ok, so im building a y8 for boost right now, and i have a few questions for when it comes time to put the motor it.
Right now the car is mine-me'd. b7/y8. Obd-1 swapped, with a hasport jumper harness. p28 ecu
When the time comes to go about dropping the y8 in, i would like to just completely remove the BS wiring thats in the car now, and put in a p28, with a z6 harness. Complete. No more dual point wiring bs that the previous owner did. Is that fine, that will work ok, right? Should pretty well bolt up. I can convert pretty well any dizzy to work, right? d series wise of course, i saw a chart awhile ago for swapping dizzy, and rewiring them, for different obd's. it showed the wire colors, etc. Does anyone have that chart?

You can use the Y8 dizzy and rewire for OBD1.
Or you can use any SOHC OBD1 dizzy except for the ones from the vtec motors (they work, but the bolt holes don't line up).
I did VERY close to what you are going after, but the only thing I didn't get around to doing is cutting my firewall plugs and putting the Z6 harness and plugs on.
To make this go easy (it's not easy... just no other word coming to mind) I suggest you take off your dash and be ready to hunt down wires that go to the driver's side firewall plug. Other than that it's not too bad. You even have a jumper harness to use as a 'schematic' to make it easier to convert your ECU plugs over to OBD1.
If you can get the dash harness from the donor OBD1 car you can even open the loom up and use the wiring between the ECU and firewall plugs to make it even cleaner
