Don't see how this would make ITR/NSX/S2000 values go up (cars depreciate), but it is a little disheartening. But who knows? Honda will probably be in the forefront when it comes to clean performance cars in the future!

 

I don't know if this will actually impact the prices or not. I'd say nostalgia and rarity will be the biggest factors.

 

This. Though Honda's new focus tells me I should take very good care of my ITR so it'll last for many years of dRiving. NevaR sell.. I just don't see a new replacement coming.

ITR prices were actually beginning to rise just prior to this whole economic downturn. Once we recover, I suspect prices will level and some will rise again. Rarity will be the biggest driver. Clean, stock ITRs are few and far between anymore. Time will show...

 

Type R's values will always either stay flat or go slightly up along with inflation.

WTF? You make a thread and all you post post is a link to another web-forum with a bunch of people speculating on an article we have to search for and thats it? Ok, Honda is going green, they have been for a while, what does this have to do with ITRs or their selling prices? Your post is so vague and off topic.

 

I deffinitly have to agree 100% with you. In the future, stock, low mileage ITR's, with original motors and paint, clean titles, ect, prices are going to sky rocket. Even on R's with a little modification. More and more ITR's get salvage title's everyday, crashed, stolen, ect, what's left is going to be worth some nice money..

I wouldn't have put it in as harsh terms but ITR prices will not and are not going up. I mean you can buy a good one for 9k to 12K. Unless you have a mint, ORIGINAL, all stock, very low mileage ITR, it won't be worth anything (such as the 97 on the FS thread). So I think we should all stop thinking we are sitting on some kind of future goldmine. I have a Celica All-trac (pretty rare) that is completely stock and in almost excellent shape that was 25K back in 1988, I bought it a few years ago for 3K. A car is only worth what someone will pay for it. I'm sure someone one day will pay a lot of money for a good ITR but not a salvage high mileage car w/ a JDM front. Enjoy the ITR and not think of it as an investment.

 

I deffinitly respect and agree with some of your thoughts above. But I don't think you can knowingly say that ITR prices will not go up. Just like someone stated above about the '69 Camaro, you can easily compare that to the 97-01 ITR. It's a 'special car' that I'm sure some people in the future (say, 10-20 years from now) will be willing to pay almost the same price the car went for brand new to have one, if not much much more. You can't compare the best FWD performance car ever made to a Toyota Celica. You said you bought your car a few years ago for 3k, and brand new it was 25k in '88. So if you bought your car when it was say 16-17 years old, and people are still paying between 13-20k for '96, '97, '98 ITR's and it's now almost 2010, do the math. You're absolutly correct that you shouldn't consider the ITR, along with any car as an investment, but I have to 100% disagree that the ITR won't be worth big bucks in the right condition in the who knows how long future.

Let me first off state I don't think ITR's are a "future goldmine" or anywhere to be seen as an investment but these are going to hit a dip (which they're currently in) and then the nice, stock, clean ones will go up in value.

Look at the E30 M3, it's your proverbial crystal ball. Not to mention there were over 1000 more made and they don't get stolen.

Can someone please list the years the NSX, S2000, and Integra DC chassis lasted for?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on a year, or a few lol:

NSX bodystyle: 1990-2005/ 15 years
Integra DC 1-4 bodystyle: 1993-2001/ 9 years
S2000 bodystyle: 1999-2009/ 10 years

Can you think of another cars bodystyle that sold the same for that many amount of years? Shigeru Uehara or whoever designed it had to be close to genius. Compare a 1993 JDM Integra DC1 to a brand new 2010 cobalt, looks a few years older. Anyone see where I'm going with this?

 

the most recent example of something compatible to the ITR is the 1996 grand sport {same era}. chevy only made a few thousand and fewer still of convertibles. the verts are selling above sticker and the coupes are near or slightly under for a mint low mile example.

the one part i really agree with is WHICH ITR's will rise. it's going to be the few 30k or less mile 98-100% stock cars with great records.

 

Agree with you on your point about the ITR's with below 30k on them. Their aren't many left at all, but I periodically browse through listings of ITR's for sale and see a range from about 45k-80k miles, which isn't exactly bad for a car thats 9-13 years old.

I hate the fact that I have to daily drive my ITR right now. I bought mine from it's first owner back in June with nearly 102k on the clock, and now I'm quickly approaching 117k, it's ashame, I'm just about to stop driving it and only take it out on weekends and for car events, like they all should be used for now'a days ;-)
