Hi, i have accord 98 4 cyd.. and it over heats sometimes and when i give more gas (race) while driving or standing.. the temp guage comes down slowly then it moves up slowly sometimes.. Pls explain what this could be??? its been happeing quite a few times now.. i changed the spark plugs..should i change the wires will that make any diff..???? Thanks

 

Do the fans come on?

Have you checked your coolant levels?

 

Either your coolant system is low on coolant (check it with the engine cold via the radiator filler cap) or
You've developed some air which has become trapped in the coolant system or
One (or both) of your radiator mounted cooling fans have ceased working.

You'll have to do the "grunt' work on this.....

i applaud your wish to dive into this stuff, but spark plugs and wires aren't going to address this...

The coolant level goes down once in every month maybe a leak in radition you think would cause to heat up?? The fan works fine.. how can i take the air out if its trapped in the coolant system? i really apprecaite your help.. Thanks

 

There should be 2 fans, are they both working? With the heat on full blast both should come on

 

yes both the fans comes on with the heat on all the way

 

Sounds like coolant issues then as P suggested

Are you seeing any leaks? Around hoses, bottom of radiator, or water pump area?

 

are your fans properly connected. that could be a problem.
