Default So I took the plunge.

Well guys I did it. I bought my first Honda. Yep. Title in my name and everything. I'm 18 so it's a big deal for me haha. It's a little rough around the edges at this point, so I'll tell you all about it. A 1995 Honda civic (dx I think?). 4 dr with power sunroof, windows, and locks (none of which my dads 2000 corolla had). I'm fairly pleased with it so far. It's had a recent motor replacement, not a swap per se as it was done in shop because of a blown engine I believe. It's pretty well lowered (dang near slammed) with an aftermarket exhaust and intake and a strut bar. The engine is a d16z6 sohc vtec with the 5 spd tranny. The outside is pretty rough and needs some work. I plan to sand and primer the entire car once I get tires and insurance out of the way. It does have a couple quirks I need to work out and I need your help:

the driver window is way messed up. You have to mess with it to get it all the way up. I took it completely off track today by accident but I did get it back. So I need some tips on how to get that taken care of.

Apparently one of the former owner's friends played with the child lock on the rear passenger side door and now it won't even open from the outside. Any tips?

Anywho, I'll have pics up sometime tomorrow hopefully. Any advice on these things or any other tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

You're a noob, but at least you're trying to explain the problem, so.... lurk a while and just try to learn what you can.

The window issue doesn't come up that often here, but it's common. You have to take the door panel off the inside of the door and adjust the rails. Get some silicone lubricant spray and spray the guides. Don't use oil, it will gunk up with dirt.

Child locks... Have you seen the show The Dukes of Hazard?

Haha yeah I am a bit of a noob when it comes to Hondas. I'm slowly learning though. Me and my brother actually did the he's job int old corolla after my dad dropped a valve in it. I'm reading up here an there, but half the time I have no clue what anyone is talking about lol. It suffices to say I've got plans for this car. Civic is pretty much my dream car lol. Another thing I noticed is that I have to slam my trunk to get it to shut. And I mean really SLAM lol, so my trunk light never goes off even when I can get it shut. Any ideas?

if you have power sunroof and power everything and you have a vtec engine then you have a 4 door ex! Its so hard to find those where i live and you came up bro! you can drop a b16a/3 in it and all you need to do is extend the o2 sensor and wire up the knock sensor. you came up bro. watch out for theives.

do the ferio conversion and drop a nasty motor in there and break off unexpecting fools. good platform for a 4 door.

clean your trunk latch. The hood latch can do the same thing, it gets gunked up and won't go back to where it's supposed to and won't latch right.

The B16 swap takes more than just extending the O2 sensor wire.

Build the car how you like. 4 doors are bland looking and heavy. Any Civic could be unexpecting if you make it look stock.

your right on the any stock civic thing.
I also forgot about extending the vtec plug but i think thats it.

I have a 93 Civic Vx and i pretty much just droped in the b16a. The swap was complete (-) the wireing harness but i just used my stock vx one and extended the o2 sensor and vtec wiring and wired up the knock. everything else was pretty much plug and play

well welcome to the club man, you have a great engine+tranny to start with, if your looking for a decent power increase down the road, dont bother with headers or anything like that and get a decent egay turbo kit. keep it low boost and a decent tune to bring you to about 175-200ish hp and you'll be impressed on what a single jingle can do man.
post up some pictures and where are you from?

I'm from wv. I'll get pics soon as they're on my iPhone and I can't host from it. I was thinking about a body kit (I know, very fast and furious-esque) but I realize that this car can be much more deceiving with a stock look. I was really wanting to do a turbo job but that will be way down the road and I don't even know what to look for. I just replaced the headlight bulbs as I thought one was out but it seems to have a short or something in the connector. It did come with some aftermarket tailights so I'll go ahead and throw those in. It's solid ride but I think I hear some kind of grinding when I coast (no gas, no clutch). It's not legal yet, but I'm in the process of taking care of everything. I also want to get some new turn signals as the ***** on the passenger side one are broken off. I figure I can find them crazy cheap on here right? I'm gonna be doing some minor improvements here and there, and maybe a turbo job once I can get the money for it.

What can you guys tell me about the d16z6 motor?

No aftermarket taillights. Please. Sell them to an idiot. No bodykit either. Please. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

On the turn signals, the junkyard is your friend. I get crap like that there dirt cheap all the time.

d16z6 is a good motor. Good potential for turbo. Arguably the best single cam they made.

Good base to start off
Clean canvas

If youre gonna do upgrades i would do an exhaust and motor mounts. You know, stuff that you can STILL use when/if you swap or turbo

It's got an exhaust on It already. But what's the point in upgrading motor mounts? I know there are tons of upgrades for a car like this, but I have no clue what half of them are for haha.

What's the ferio conversion?

And I might just go ahead and sell the taillights for a little extra cash. Anybody ever seen a clear dizzy cap? Mines got one and I think it gives it a little subtle mixup.

No, it's an ex. It's got the oem sunroof controls right next to the cruise control option, just like in my dads 02 ex.

I'm in wv and it's not the coldest of states, but recently we have had very cold weather for this time of year. As soon as I get my new tires and the steely rim on, my first project is to sand and primer the entire thing black. Got some minor things to take care of first like the interior, getting my xplod head unit it in it, and tearing out the shitty dynamat job, fix the trunk latch, among others.

A couple quirks I'm noticing though:

my wiper blades freeze in position whenever I rotate the switch to the off position. Wtf?

And also, as soon as I take my key out, the clock resets itself to 1:00. Again, wtf?

So today I tried to fix my window today. Got my door panel off no problem and got the window back on the track. Rolls down fine, but she I roll it up, it seems like the motor pushes the back side of the window faster than the front and it bogs down because of it. If I push the window back into the back trim it goes up fine but it comes out easily. Any ideas??

I've got a few problems I need to diagnose. Help me out guys?

1. My backup lights don't work. I replaces the backup switch, checked the fuses, and still nothing. The mechanics said they jumped the harness and both lights come on, but I have had no such luck.

2. My windshield wipers stop in place when I turn the switch to the off positiob. Idk what to do about that. B

but I do need to fix my backup lights before I can pass inspection.
