thermostat question

Default thermostat question

i was wondering if a b series thermostat would work in a d series. i want to get a spoon one, but i dont know if its only for a b series, or if it even matters

I think it is a 160*F one. It is used for racing applications only. Installing this on a daily driven street car IS NOT RECOMMENDED. It will actually hurt performance because the engine will never reach operating temperature (195*F).

That's interesting... 195* is operating temp? How do you know that? I don't doubt it, I'm just curious.

After years of people telling me that a stock D series radiator is too small to run on a B18C1, I think it's strange that mine runs well below operating temps anytime it's below about 65* outside... Today, mine ran about 160-172* driving on the interstate for 40 minutes. I'm running an OEM thermostat, and plain old prestone through a y8 radiator on a gsr engine. Does that seem strange?

195 seems a bit on the hot side for a constant running temp. anything over 200 IS too hot for an extended period of time, i dont see how 5 degress could be that different

i dont know if its my gauge, but my engine temp never reaches operating temperature. this only happens in the fall/winter time
