I've purchased LEDs twice now from two different companies claiming that their LEDs are "white" when in fact they are white with a hint of blue to them. The first company's "white" led was just blue, and their version of blue is just a dark dark blue haha.

Now...I know that some sort of bulb or LED must exist that is a true clear white because the new lexus' I see on the street have a true white color display for their license plates. Anyone know which company makes a true white LED or a bulb replacement? I don't want to try anymore brands, I just want to get it right this next time around.

Although interesting note, a rep at retrosolutions told me that all white LEDs will always have a hint of blue due to the process of how they are made.

a lot of times LED whites look kind of blue. the ones on the Lexus sometimes look a little blue its how theyre gonna always be

 

go to radioshack they have true white bulbs with no tint.

 

the lexus LED liscence plate lights are LEGIT. in for a DIY

 

lexus charges $40 a bulb for thoes damn things..

im running the VLeds's led and they have a hint..

 

Next time you're on the road, check out the new 2010 RX, the license plate lighting is a pure crisp white...but like another person said, super expensive.

 

haha 40 bucks, expensive to us, aint **** to them. we could fill our tank with that money.

 

$40 isnt bad at all ima look into that

 

40 dollars is not that much but just for some lights..
kinda like the cool looking mugen plate bolts they cost like 50 but just for some bolts that should only cost 6 dollars at the most

It's $40 per bulb, not $40 for a pair...so $80 total. That's on the expensive side for just 168 wedge bulbs considering companies like raybrig and PIAA only charge somewhere between $10-$25 for a pair.
