Question regarding freeplay for second gear
I have been having trouble getting my local dealership to fix my second gear. It's still under warranty. However, they say they can't reproduce the problem, yet I get it 25% of shifts. It doesn't matter if I shift hugging the left or right side of my second gear or if i go straight down the middle. It happens are various RPM's from 2000 and above. Speed is not a factor as it happens at all speeds as well.
I have been trying to pinpoint something that will happen 100% of the time. Should my 2nd gear have enough play where I am able to grind moving it left and right with my clutch fully disengaged moving at 20 mph. It doesn't happen in any other gear, but 2nd. If I move it somewhere close to the top and the left while it's still in 2nd gear, it will just start grinding.
If I shift fast into 2nd gear, it will grind even with the clutch fully disengaged. It's a small grind, but I feel and hear it. This should point to a synchro issue, right?
I have gone in 3-4 times for my tranny since my car has had 15k miles. It now has about 33k miles. They have stated that they have been unable to reproduce a problem every single time. Does anyone have any advice in regards to getting my car warrantied?
I have replaced my tranny fluid at 25k miles (8000 miles ago) with Honda OEM MTF fluid. It was their new formula with the green cap or something similar. Unfortunately, this did not help at all and was a waste of my time and money.

I had the same problem... tell them you want to drive the car and take one of the mechanics with you! They did the same thing to me twice till I drove and then he heard it. The don't drive your car like we do so the grind won't happen...
