hard shift came back AFTER a junk yard replace(honda accord 1997)
hello i registerd like a year back and was having problems and here is the update
honda accord : 1997
1 - old engine :f20b (non v-tec 2.0 liter engine .. a gulf specication) sufferd catasrophic failure
2 - replacment engine : f22b (non v-tec US spec engine)...suffered from crank case seal failure and oil comes out like waterfall....fixed with new sealers set...
3 - old transmistion : started jerking ...hard shifting eventauly rpm goes hight then shifts after it gathers up enought speed
4 - repalcment tranny ,,,shifts okay and all but then the hard shift came back..again (the whole body shakes violently when shifting ( takes a few steps back then KABOOM ) like its caughing,,aaatchuuu..booom..not nice
current problems and how i fixed it :
1 - raidaitor ...lower plastic cap bent ...so i took it out and and recaped the plastic seal with silicon and new inner rubbers,,,it works,,, no leak
2 - then came the small manifold hose leak,,,,fixed it by cutting away worn out section and re used ...fixed no leak (temporary fix so i can drive to spare parts dealer)
3 - rusty water pipe ...replaced from a junk yard along with new gaskets
4 - hard shift with the replacment tranny from junkyard...i used oil conditioner,,,became slightly better...(canadian brand) but still shifts like crap...
now here comes the big question......
WHAT IS wrong with my gearbox,,,,(i belive its the mooost complicated device on earth)
i have heard and wread about this failure and turns out to be somthing common....
but what part in auto tranny that is responssible for this

What fluid is in it and when did you change it?
Did you have the new motor inspected and pulled apart and did maintenance to it prior to swapping it in?

ummmm,,,lemee try to remmeber as much as my elephant memory can go,,,
for replacment tranny from junk yard : it had an acDelco fluid as soon it was pulled out from junkyard and that was 6 mounths ago,,3 mounths later it started jerking....i know bad idea i should have used the honda ATF...then
have the motor inspected ? umm no i barly found one for sale..you see the junk yard policy here in uae is that ya have to buy all of motor (manifold + tranny ) wich i did not need and no i just replaced the engine with new f22 us spec and drove away then 1 mounth later the oil flud came out of crank seal ( sorry it was not crankcase ) it was a crank pully seal...but i replaced them all just incase
so no it was not inspected,,,but the engine is running okay no overheat or anything just the tranny
chekced the mounts..there okay both trany side and engine side...still

Ahhhh, gotca. Personally the FIRST thing I'd do is swap out the fluid in that transmission to the OEM Honda ATF, it's 3 quarts and is around $28 for all 3 here in the USA. I just changed mine and removed a harsh shifting condition I've had for years. Other brand fluids don't play too well in Honda trannys. GM Synchomesh however is an exception and may be easier for you to acquire. (Buy that at a GM dealership) The reason I ask about the motor is to see if you knew if the major maintenance had been performed and they had inspected the valves and what not. Shaking the entire car during just a shift seems like quite a problem - but could just be an exaggeration
okaaay another thing i just rememberd...i noticed that the harsh shifting condition dont come until engine reaches normal operatinf temrature then it immedaitly kicks ,,kaboom..
could it be that because the trany`s oil is being cooled the radiator and the crappy oil causes this after it heats up to normal operating temrature ?

Hmm, I don't want to speculate too much on what I don't know for sure.
I would guess it's possible that at operating temperature the fluids are crapping out and not performing. While cold the fluid may still have the proper consistency.

lol i hate those boxes,,,they give me headeches just by hearing their name.....
need to closly study those,,,i know to turbo and engine and what is needed,,,
but dont know jack about autoboxes,,,,
currenlty working on changing the flude,,,i heard that ya need to replace it twice in order to get old one out,,,
might as well look into the throttle cable becasue it is related as well (tvc) it might be set hight for the oil prssure mechanism
over and out
