D16 SOHC VTEC swap into 95 Civic HELP!
I just finished swapping in an OBDII D16 VTEC motor into my OBDI Civic DX non VTEC car. I used the OBDI engine harness, Distributor, & injectors. The car is turning over but won't fire. I am using the stock ECU with from the D15 Non Vtec motor. I have not wired up the VTEC yet, should the motor fire or am I missing something? I have a P28 ECU that I haven't installed yet and I need help with Wiring up the VTEC. Can anyone help?
Yeah I know I need to wire up the Vtec but I wasn't sure how to do it. I am also using the stock D15 ECU for now but I have a P28. I need help with the Vtec wiring if anyone can help!

Yeah I think my firing order is incorrect or timing is off. I will check my distributor again today. Xero Xero thanks for the write up on wiring the VTEC!
@OP Is your main relay clicking? Did you connect the ground on the thermostat housing? Are you sure that you put the spark plug wires in the right order (because OBD2 and OBD1 are in a different order I think). have you checked to seee if you are getting spark & or fuel? Do you hear your fuel pump prime when you turn the key to ON
I will recheck me grounds. I don't think I have the firing order on my plugs correct. I am getting spark and fuel. I do hear the pump turn on when I turn the key to the ON position.
no, he can have ground in some places and turn over but not fire.

I had the distributor installed incorrectly and my wires where out of seqence. Once I corrected these items the car started right up with the non Vtec ECU. So now all I have to do is wire up VTEC and i'm finished!
Thanks to everyone that helped answer my questions!
