I have a 96 coupe with 2000 si doors and this morning I turned on my car and heard a weird clicking sound coming from the inside of the passenger door panel! It sounds like a relay clicking over every 5-10 seconds! I tried pushing both buttons on both doors to see if it was a putton malfunction but I can hear a scondary clicking sound when I push the buttons so I k ow the buttons work. Any ideas Honda-tech? Thanks in advance!

I can't right Now because I'm at work! I was hoping to get some advise in the mean time so that when I get home I have an idea of why might be wrong. =]

 

Sounds like the regulator is shot

 

How much to replace? Or how hard is it to replace?

 

It's pretty easy to replace the window regulator but they cost about $180 from Honda, they have some on ebay but u get what u pay for. I know a guy who was being cheap and bought an ebay one and it sucks to say the least.

 

Do I need one from a 2000 civic or will any 96-00 civic door work? And is it a plug and play??

Yes any civic 96-00 should work and it is plug and play.

 

Does anyone on here have any "how to" write ups or have any advise on figuring out what exactly is happening? I don't want to replace the regulator and have it not fix my problem. =( (Ive never dealt with any door issues and I absolutely hate electrical problems.)

 

Take the door panel off and then try and roll the window up or down and look and listen. If it's the regulator u will c it and feel it.

 

my regulator had 2-3 teeth sheared off the gear, was doing a similar thing. quite obvious once u take the trim off

 

yeah i think its the regulator too
