Default 96 Civic passenger window only goes down with drivers door shut

I am not sure where to start looking, but when I have the drivers door closed is the only time the passenger window will work. I read elsewhere the ground for the passenger window goes through the harness to the drivers door. Any truth to this?

Also I don't know if this is related. But I have no sound from my front speakers and it was weird the other night when I shut the drivers door out of no where the passenger speaker had sound but upon the next startup I had nothing.

Last thing, the power lock on the passenger side dose not work either, could this be related?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like some wires may be grounding on the chassis when the door is opening/closing.

Look near the door hinges for pinched wires, especially near the rubber grommets.

I'll have to give that a try tonight when I get home from work.

Does the power mirror also tie into that harness. I am trying to diagnose if my mirror motor is out or its wiring. The mirror will go side to side but not up and down.

The car is all stock I am the 2nd own from an older woman. So that almost rules out any poorly done mods everything is stock down to the stereo.

I have a friend who's car does something similar to this.

Replacing the driver's door wiring harness would be the easiest and cleanest way to fix it.

All the wiring for the door goes into the car under the door hinge. The bundle probably got pinched at some time and wires were cut or otherwise damaged.

That's what I was thinking.

Now if only someone had one. I can't find a single damn EJ partout.

Find one at a junkyard. I can't believe there can't be any near you if you're in California.

car-part.com

Leave "Location" empty (it narrows the results too much). Enter in the car info and your zip code and then select to order the results by distance.

I'll have to give that a shot, its either $80, $100, or $200 from Honda if I figure what part number I have. It was the main harness that connects to the door dozens or wires ripped right at the clip and to top it all it also ties into the interior harness.

Found out its the floor harness part number 32107-S03-A31 anyone got one lol

How did the floor harness get damaged? This really sounds like the door harness (the part you can see near the hinge).

Pics?

That is the harness I am referring to, the one that goes in between the door and frame. The harness inside the actual good is fine.

I got pics but I went straight to bed last night I can get pics later on.

I wish I knew how it happened because its a little expensive. about 50% of the wires in that harness have ripped out.

I guess that is what a project is all about. I paid cheap enough for it for this to not bug me yet.

I've been meaning to come back into this thread, but kept forgetting and couldn't remember what the thread name was.

Anyway, there is no harness between the door harness and the floor harness.

The harness you see when you open the door is the door harness.

Just buy a used one from a person parting a car or from a salvage yard.
