want to replace my front upper control arms and lower balljoints today. Started looking at some diagrams and the honda tech manual says you have to remove the hubs from the knuckles and have to use 2 special tools to remove the lowers. Is that right? or can you just pull the knuckle out and tap it out and tap the new one in???? some insight would be great before I tear it all apart!!! thanks!!!!

 

no tapping involved.
but lots of beating. get a fork to separate them and you can then beat the ball out with a sledge. but if you aren't on a lift way in the air to swing i don't think it's gonna happen.
if you have access to air an air hammer makes it almost easy.
then wipe out the hole and start the new one. can be done either way just the same, hit it around the edge and put it down evenly.
if you have abs take the sensor out.


off the car with the complete knuckle.. i've never done. it takes some serious hits to get the old one out. unless you have a vice i don't know how you are going to hold it well enough.

 

great advice!!!! so you took it out with knuckle still on the car? seemed like the way but i looked at the honda manual it said all that BS that you had to remove it, had to remove the hub, had to put it in the vice. thats the directions with out using hammer manipulation.....lol think im gonna go pick up a cheap air hammer, got a nice 5.5 horse gas compressor that i can put to work! neighbors are gonna hate that air hammer!!!!!!lol
