Was driving down the road and then lost all power to the engine.... had power to lights and everything else..the engine just completely shut down, no check eninge light, no check oil light, no sputtering, just cut power.. Any ideas......

no just recently bought the car.. waiting to go tow it home tonight.. so trying to trouble shoot while being blind... it will try and turn of just wont fire... or start up.... i am thinking it's the timing belt... how hard is that to replace? thanks for your help...
Well if it did break it's not a simple "put it back on" type of deal. Wikipedia "interference engine" and do a little studying. Basically the valves and pistons share the same space, and if the timing gets off (i.e. timing belt breaks) you usually bend valves/dent pistons. In which case you have a lot of work to do.
Sometimes people get away with no damage, but since you kept cranking your car you're probably in trouble if that's indeed what happened.
