Icon6 D15 ENGINE UPGRADES

SO STILL BEING NEW TO THE BUILD SCENE, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT I CAN DO TO MY SINGLE CAM DX TO UPGRADE THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE? I'VE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS WITH SOME HIGH QUALITY ONES BUT NOT THE BEST ALSO THE WIRES AND I JUST BOUGHT A COLD AIR INTAKE. IT'S A 91 DX. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO WITHOUT HAVING TO SPRING FOR A NEW ENGINE RIGHT NOW? DOES ANYONE ALSO KNOW IF I CAN PUT A B16 OR B18 HEAD ON MY D15?

fisrt of all you cant put a b series head onto a d series block...second you can get a little extra power by doing a mpfi conversion...and third for gods sake quit typing in CAPS and learn how to use the search button for the basic questions and answers that you are asking about

first off, stop yelling and turn off your caps lock

secondly, no you cannot install a b-series head of any kind on your d-series bottom end. you can however do a mini-me swap which consists of installed a sohc vtec d16z6,d16y8, or d15b head onto your non-vtec bottom end. if you search for "mini-me" or look in the facts you will find the info you need to accomplish this.

a great upgrade is to convert your engine from dpfi to mpfi. it will open up possibilties for other engine combos later down the line, and is necessary if you want to do the mini-me swap.

What 'high quality' spark plug did you use?
The $2 NGK's work really well.
I hope you didn't waste your $ on platinum plugs... they foul very easily and have a tiny electrode compared to a standard copper one.

If you have $ for a B16 head then you have a good start towards a SOHC vtec motor swap.

Save your money for a used LS or ZC swap.. By the time you add up the $ from a mini me swap, headers, cold air intake, you'll be into dualie territory.
