Default K20a2

Ok i have a huge question it might sound dumb but i am very curious. But is it possible to put a k20a2 motor into a 05-06 rsx. If im not mistaken the 02-06 are the same chassis shape. i know the k20z1 goes in the 05-06 and the k20a2 goes in the 02-04. but i am wondering because i currently have an o5 rsx base and want a K20 with vtec on both the intake and exhaust. not just intake! i know i can put a type s head on k20a3 block. But if i do that will i still be able to keep my 5spd tranny? i know i would have to get a type s ecu. But if some one can help me with this that would be great. Trying to learn as much as i can about the k series.

first off..dont worry about your tranny. you can use your k series tranny for any motor you end up buying, whether it be 5 or 6spd.

secondly, purchasing a k20a2 for an 05-06 could work but your sort of backpedaling. the k20z1 is a better motor IMO and its newer.

if you want to gain a good amount of power i would k24(TSX)bottom end/k20head swap your car..and stay NA

and yes you can keep your 5spd tranny if you swap heads but dont expect any outstanding power gains.

Because its harder to find a k20z1 motor unless you all can help me find one through a comapny. Because i dont have flat cash ive been using my credit card cuz its easier for me to pay it back because im still paying for my rsx. Even if its just a long block and comes with ecu and ill just use my tranny and harness. The K20a is just to expensive for me right now and i see the k20a2 is cheaper to do.

Or will the K24 and k24 ecu work with my harness and tranmission if i get a k24 longblack?

Sorry if im asking dumb questions or annoying ones. Im just trying to learn about the kseries and what will work with what.

O_o zoiks!! j/k...

I'm pretty sure either way you go you will need to upgrade to K-Pro. Even if you don't have to, you should...

this would be the easiest and cheapest solution. K20Z1 shortblock will probably run 3500? I'm not too keen on prices of K series motors, but that 3500 should cover the difference of the car. OP, you will have to pay for both the motor and labor. Let's not forget all of the other stuff you get with a type-s.

What is the difference between DC5 integra-R K20A and DC5 RSX-S K20A2 engines?
I know integra has 220HP, RSX has 203HP, why?
is different top? or injrects? or what?

By not answering your question, I'm really helping you. When you are able to find answers to simple questions on your own, it will make research a lot easier overall.

first....the type-s had 2 motors.....the k20a2 and the k20z1.....the z1 is very close to a k20a

bigest differences are the k20a is compression ratio, head casting method and cams.....When I say they changed the head casting method on the type-r, I mean they used a finer grain of sand in the casting process. This gave a much smother intake and exhost port finish...remember, the type-r B motors had hand ground ports, this was not needed for the k type-r motors.

the z1 motor is really close to r, remember they changed SEA hp mesure method in 2005.....If you read a z1 at the crank with the old method, it had 212hp....

Thank you for answer
Excuse me but i don't speak English well and I don't anderstend something in your answer
what's "hand ground ports" mean?

If you know is differences in inject diameters?

In this moment I amn't intrested in K20z1, becouse my RSX has K20a2 and i want tune it

if I change injects, mugen exhost and AEM V2 intake, how many HPs approximately will I have?

I understand, and I wasn't trying to be a douche or anything so I'm sorry if I came across that way.

You should see some of the people here on HT though, you do just fine it seems to me

Also, you're better off just sticking with your K20A2 rather than swapping for a Z1. If you get some mild cams, I/H/E and a good tune with K-Pro... you should be making arounf 215-220whp.

On the B series type-r motors, honda tech's would hand grind the intake and exhust ports with a die grinder to smoth out everything and increase flow. On the jdm k series type-r heads, Honda used a very fine sand in the casting process to get the Same results.
