Default SOHC VTEC issues. Help me out asap

i have a d16z6 in my civic ej1. Basically my car hits revlimit at 5000 rpm or earlier. I don't have a check engine light or any thing. Also it cracks vtec about 4000rpm and when it rains it runs worse. I tried switching my ecu, new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I have no idea what is wrong any info lmk. also i know my cel works because it turns on when i start the car.

what do you mean "it hits redline at5k" it wont rev any higher, the power starts trailing off..........need a lil more info. does it idle and run fine up to 5? u sure vtec is engaging at 4? the Z6 doesnt have that very distinct vtec sound like the Bs and Ks, its alot less noticable

o ment revlimit. it like either bounces off the limiter or looses power and then it feels like it cuts the fuel back untill the rpms drop then it dose it again

sounds electrical to me, with it getting worse when it rains. Maybe in your distributor? That would affect revs... Especially if you have already replaced the cap and rotor and still doing it. I would check spark through all four wires. If its weak, may be in the distributor. Check all grounds as well.

And to those who say you cant hear VTEC in a single cam... I am going to make a video tomorrow to let you hear the cam changeover. No other mods done to motor minus a 3" generic intake with K&N filter. I will post it in this forum so you can really see/hear what its like.

sounds like an ecu and dizzy. i have two d16z6 motors and they redline at 7500 as posted before and never listened intently but vtec sounded like it was around 5500 so check your ecu and make sure its a p28

if its p28 it when it looses power it might be it cracking vtec if there is a problem with your timing when we did my friends mini mi swap everything was fine unti at about 5000 rpm vtec hit and the car lossed power and got really loud.... which as they said earlier is bad because singles dont crack vtec very hard at all... we just got a nes dizzy and played with the timing and it was fine...idk if thats your problem though idk what you mean by it redlines at 5000..... it dosent it goes to 7500 but anyway good luck
