how to get rid of cai "whistling"
i assume the whistling noise coming from my intake (around 2500rpm) is normal since a few people told me theirs does the same. is this a correct assumption and is there any way to get rid of it?
Only thing I can think of is to switch brands of filters and see if it'll make a difference or maybe angle the intake arm a certain way...just my .02
put your stock airbox back on.. and while your at it throw your stock exhaust on. people tend to forget that performance only has benefits.

In order to stop the whistling you have to restrict the flow of air, costing you horse power and torque. Even though it's not that much hp and trq every little bit helps in this day and age.
Oh yeah man I love the way the skunk2 TypeR manifold whistles, especialy on my cousins GSR. Sssssssss < GOTTA LOVE IT!!!

sometimes the whistling noise comes from the tube that connect to the valve cover breather. try plugging the hole on the intake pipe and putting a breather filter on the valve cover. if you already have this then disregard
aahhhh, intake noise. learn to love it. wait till you get a skunk2 intake manifold, your intake is nothing.
learn to love it.

what type of noises is ur skunk2 makin?

that has got to be the funniest thing i've heard.
Why?
Why?
Don't you think that little filter pulls in allot of hot air from the engine bay?
I just went to Pep Boys and got this little nipple looking thingy to plugged mine cause I thought that the HOT air from that filter kind of cancels out the CAI.

all the breather line does is relieve (sp?) pressure from the head making it breathe.
Breather filters are mostly show and don't have an 'intake whistle' effect whatsoever, they just make it so if any overflow oil pressure under the valve cover will not go into the intake pipe and slow down flow of air
So...
that breather filter had nothing to do with it, so I got a laugh at it.

You don't want to plug that up. Look what I have mentioned before.
The breather is in no way an 'intake' effect. It just relieves pressure in the head allowing it to breathe getting it from the intake pipe.
We are talking about two different things.
I am talking about the open hole in the intake ex: AEM CAI where the hose from the valve cover goes.
Does someone have a pic??

wisthkiung noise comes from the air suction tru a Cone type filter.... not too much suction, or too much suction will not let u hear the noise.....

heres a pic. you can see the black cap on the intake and then the breather on the valve cover.
That is what I did on the intake.....
My vent just has a little piece of rubber hose on it.
A friend of mine had the little breather on his intake and that was what I was talking about.

You really don't want to put a breather on that spot on the valve cover. It is connected to the intake because the opening acually uses the vacum(sp) from the intake, to draw in air to the valve cover area. If you don't believe look at a diagram of the pcv system.

Somewhere, someone believes me...
