Default all motor street car class boti. questions

when you guys are mounting your lightweight seats to the unibody floor what rules are you following? i checked the nhra rule book but they are very vague and mostly apply to a full framed car. i also was wondering about seat belt mounting points. the nhra rule book states that you may used reinforced mounting.. well that is pretty vague also. if anyone could please provide some pics and or advice it would be extremely usefull. thanks again!

what sort of lightweight seat are you referring to? something like a kirkey or a standard racing seat like sparco or something. just use oem seat mounting points with either sparco rails or fabbed rails and attach harnesses to a harness bar.

Well if you dont mound the seat 2 the floor then how do u mount the other part of your harness not the shoulder straps that mount to the harness bar.

I think Tim meant: Dont just bolt it to the foor with no mount.

Most people will use a stock mount/slider, fab it to the seat and then use the factory bolt holes to mount it. Some even make their own mounts.

There is a rule that states if the seat can flex at all then there should be a mount going from the harness bar close to the back of the seat.

thanks. so as far as specific mounting there is no set standard as long as the seat is secure?

It is not a BOTI rule, its an NHRA safety rule. Check NHRA rulebook to be certain, but I believe the driver seat if aftermarket needs to be attatched to the roll cage/roll bar. Up here, they have been pretty strict on that at the nhra sanctioned tracks.
