a friends DA's battery keeps dying and not letting him start his car. we'll jump his car and itll charge the battery but then a few minutes later the car will die...he went and got a brand new battery and that lasted a few hours but then drained again...autozone checked the alternator and it was good.

a friend checked it out and said it could be the distributor cap? i dont see how that is going to make the battery drain but what do you guys think??? it runs perfect once the car is started. the battery just keeps on draining

im thinking theres some kind of short inbetween the battery and alternator?? but id rather see what you say before my friend pays to get it diagnosed

 

maybe check all grounds? not quite sure

 

Alternator belt tight? Had mine come a little lose once and it would eat the battery down little by little till it finally died.

 

ended up the fan's power never shutting off even when the car was off... which kept draining the battery.

 

Hey, i think i got the same prob your friend had..how did you guys fix that?
