Just got valve adjustment done at dealer
My car's a type r and my receipt reads "Valve adjustment GSR". My question is that if the valves were adjusted to gsr spec, is that any different from type r spec?
Sorry for the stupid question, but I don't really trust the service manager's answer.
thanks y'all

This was the 30,000 mile service. It was $330 including tax in VA.
They bled and adjusted the brakes.
rotate tires
Replaced Tranny fluid
Oil change - with my oil
Valve adjustment
New air filter
drain and fill radiator
and inspect a bunch of stuff
It cost less than I thought.

how often should valve adjustmet be done?
Its one of those things that people here can't agree on, and everyone has their own ideas... I like to adjust mine about every 15k.

ok...question, when you adjust you valves every 15k , aer they ever in need of adjusting, i mean are they a bit looser than when you last adjusted them ...?
I adjust mine every other oil change... i'm getting preped for the maitance required on the B's. I also change my tranny fluid every other oil change

I brought my car into the dealer for valve adjustment at 30K miles. Only 2 valves were slightly out of spec even tho the car had been thru 10+ track events.

For those who are gonna say I could have done it myself: The car was still under warranty at that time so I need the paper work from the dealer to prove that my car has been properly maintained, just in case something happens.

I wake up, do valve adjustment, drive around the block, drain oil, drain tranny, fill tranny, fill oil. All with in an hour
Craig - Who is glad he picked up a case of MTF from Mike K when he was still around
The above list was just what I remembered. Here's the complete list:
Remove and re-install Distributor cap
Remove and re-install distributor rotor
Adjust valves
Replace air filter
Balance and rotate tires
Add injector cleaner
Add engine treatment
flush brake system
flush cooling system
lube locks and hinges
service manual transaxle
oil and filter change
adjust parking break
remove and reinstall spark plugs
inspect brake hoses and lines
inspect driveshaft boots
inspect exhaust system
inspect all fluid levels
inspect fuel lines
inspect tie rod ends, steering and boots
inspect vehicle underbody
inspect lights and controls
The value of the service really depends on how well it was done. I'm trusting that the mechanic did a good job. I don't tend to trust the service managers since they're really just customer relations people - sales people.

Craig - want me to pick you up MTF from TJ (Baranco)? It'll be just as cheap (if not cheaper) than from Mike K. Let me know. I'll be in Charlotte next weekend.
so how many times have you re-used the valve cover gasket?
I'm guessing you could probably re-use it at least 3-4 times.
only 3-4 valves were out of spec when I did mine 2 months ago...I adjust mine when I feel like it (usually once a year)

My last valve adjustment was quite a bit out of spec. All 16 valves were way loose. It lead me to 2 thoughts. 1) Last time they were adjusted was at the local dealership. They didn't know what they were doing. 2) I need to adjust my valves more often. So, prolly here in another month, I'll adjust them again. More importantly, I need to do my brake fluid now. I have 27k on the car on stock brake fluid.
Tranny was done at 20k

Oh yeah,
And I had an RSX loaner for a day. It was automatic, but it was fun to play with for a while. I actually liked the interior. And I was thinking about the name changes that have happened at acura and most auto manufacturers - trying to make names like Mercedes and BMW and it's a shame. It's hard to love anything called RSX or TL, but Integra and Legend are easy to like - and everyone knows what you're talking about when you talk about a car with a name. Now you have to be a real car geek to know which combinations of letters mean anything.

Brand identity is one thing, but the value of you're product has to be increased by creating a memorable car models. Like the Corvette, Viper, Camero, Mustang, Supra, Camry, Accord etc. - those names are now worth a huge amount to the manufacturs. The only short alphanumeric name out there with any real recognition is 911.
