Default 92 LS Starts and Immediately Shuts Off

I have a 92 LS that has been running fine. The other day I parked it but when I tried to start it the next day it fired up, backfired and then shut off. I checked the ECU code and am getting a code 20 (ELD). I also notice a strong fuel smell after trying to start it. I swapped out the ECU with a known good one and there was no change. If I push the gas pedal after starting it I can get it to stay running for a bit but the engine acts as though it is misfiring or running very rich. Also I cleaned thw IAC and FITV but still no go. I then pulled the spark plugs and the #2 and #4 plugs are wet with gas. I just installed a new coil, fuel filter and ignitor about 2 months ago so I'm pretty sure neither of them are at fault. Dist cap and rotor maybe? Any help would be appreciated. Car is stock, no mods at all.

it wouldnt start if it was the cap and rotor. you have another issue.

Look at your Injectors if you smell gas you got a leak somewhere. Look around to see if you can find it. Your car is running too rich or not getting enough gas to stay on.

check the tps first. it could be the cap and button, Brice.Hayden i believe is just a little wrong. check the spark to each plug. then have your injectors tested at a local shop. they will have everything to tell you exactly what each injector is doing.

Well I pulled the valve cover and it looks like the timing belt slipped. When I line up the white mark on the crankshaft pulley with the mark on the lower cover the "UP" arrows on the camshafts point down instead of up like they should. So I'm going to get a new belt and reset the timing and go from there.
