Why wont my car go into Gear?
Ok i just put a new engine in my car and i drove it maybe 12 miles and then it started to make a chattering noise and i shut it off then i started it again and still making the noise i went to put in gear and i cant get the shifter to go into any of the gears so i shut it off put it in reverse and tried to start it and the car was trying to take off with the clutch all the way to the floor so im not sure if i didnt put something back together right or not but its a B18A1 cable clutch and there is oil in the engine lol any ideas? i was told throwout bearing? Any help would be much appreciated
ughh im not sure on that one i know the clutch plate looked pretty worn now that i think about it but it was my first time even ever seeing a car clutch and first time swapping an engine but i didnt drop the tranny when i swapped but i was told either clutch plate or throw out bearing but i have no idea why its chattering its kinda scarin me lol
I've had the similar problem. For me my car was driving just fine and when I pulled over to the curb and shut my car off then turned it back on it wouldn't go into gear. Then it would only go into certain gears like first and not second but third. I think my clutch wasn't disengaging cuz when I would get to a light and push in the clutch it start to stall out. But anyways I just had my clutch replaced or rebuilt..what ever the shop did can't remember.
I would think you would have to just replace the clutch.

yea i just dont get why it is making a chattering noise allmost like a loud knock because i just put a new engine in and it didnt overheat and had plenty of oil and coolant and like i said i only drove about8-12 miles not far at all so im not sure like i cant get it into gear at all with the clutch to the floor its like im not even pushing it in so i dont know

as for the sounds, idk. I had the problem with not being able to put my car into gear, my clutch went out, it had never slipped or had anyproblems, one day it just went out, i dropped the tranny and the plate was smooth, no grip, either way, a cable ls tranny is cheap, you could probably get a cable b16 tranny for 300$ and just replace the clutch while you're in there, should come with a new bearing and spring
Well genius since you didn't clear it up either, I will.
Your pressure plate could possibly be bad, broken teeth or the such. Pilot bearing or a number of things.
The springs on the disc can also be broken.
Just replace the clutch, you should have done that in the first place.
You kids and your ruining of DAs...
Sounds like you lost a spring out of your clutch hub and broke the change assembly in your tranny. The change assembly is about 120 and some change, get a new clutch. Go with an Exedy single stage hyper if you at a low tune. The clutch is great for daily driving. The exact part number for the asembly is 24400-PB6-010. But order it if you need it. Teg trannys are easy to crack open. Hope this helps.
