Default Is it worth it to lose my LSD to get shorter gears.

B18CR-Only mod narrow replica ran through a cut-out
LS tranny- 8 lbs flywheel, Quaife LSD

To make a long story short. I purchased what I though was a 92-93 GSR tranny with Quaife LSD for my CRX and it turned out to be a LS tranny with Quaife LSD. I finish the 1/4 at 101mph in 3rd gear (22 inch slicks) and I am at 3000 RPM's at 70mph in 5th gear so I am sure of this.

My best run to date is an 8.88 @79.37mph 2.00 60ft, 3000ft altitude, 2340 lbs race weight with driver.

The LS tranny is killing my 60ft, best I have done is a 1.90. The trade-off is I have zero traction issues. I have purchased a S1 B16 transmission with LS 5th gear but no LSD.

I have to buy a 90-91 Integra clutch to work with this transmission and then there is the PITA of installing it.

Is the tranny swap worth doing?

I'd rather be a bit slower and have the peace of mind that my diff won't break (cable diff pins are weaker than hydro).

You could just put the Quaife in the B16 trans, they use the same ring gear size...

I would do it, but can't you put the lsd from one into the other?

Man I got all kinds of conflicting info from the local Honda crowd on if the LS Quaife LSD would fit the S1 B16 tranny.

To clarify I am going from a large spline LS tranny to a small spline S1 B16 tranny and the LSD from my LS tranny with fit the b16?

If this is the case its a no brainer. I have never worked on a Honda transmission but I would be pretty confident with a good write-up.

LS diff = B16 diff. Large/small spline (90-91/92-93) doesn't matter as you won't be using any of the LS gears.

B16 and ls uses the same diff, just swap the ring gears.

keep the LS trans... Make more power and track down a JDM Final Drive that will fit that transmission...
