who uses EGT gauges?
EGT's are a great tool but you have to take them for what they are. They are more so to get your individual trims correct or to see if there is an issue with a certain cylinder.
If you want to talk egt's numbers I will tell that mine are pinned on my car as soon as I hit 3rd gear. 1745 is where they stop. I am upgrading to the 2200 sensor setup now.

The best bang for the buck in the sportsman kit as this will give the guys who just need the basics more then enough channels to log.

I use this one, can get on sale for around $50 just add a sensor. Does min max and is back lit with big numbers so you can easily read it at night. Just add a sensor. When you live your life 13 sec at time you have plenty of time to look around and read gauges lol, well you would think that would be the case

Interesting information Miller, and coincidentally fits what I was expecting. People think there is a limit to how high EGTs can go, but I think that isn't the case. Afterall, retarding your timing moves the temperature from the combustion chamber more to the exhaust, correct? Maybe not good for the turbo, but maybe less hard on the motor.
We've started to have this discussion on the MegaSquirt3 forum for planning the new code. While we've implemented an AFR safety cut if AFRs get higher than a user set limit by kPa, I don't feel that a similar strategy is applicable to EGTs. Got any feelings on that?
I do totally appreciate (and *think* I understand) the usefulness of EGTs from all cylinders for tuning individual cylinder fueling to correct distribution issues. I'm guessing in a turbo application individual runner AFR sensors wouldn't work well due to the pressure and temps involved in the runners. . .
Thanks in advance for any of your thoughts on this stuff! ! !
