Icon2 90-97 Accord Skunk2 Sport Shocks and Springs

Has anyone tried these? I was looking at these as an option instead of tried and true tokico blues. I might just save up for illuminas tho. with respect to all the kyb loving community i'm not really an AGX fan. I have them now. just looking for a change. Let me know what ya'll think and keep the thread friendly thanks!!

i have skunk2 struts and their coils. They are a little bouncy, but it is not bad considering the price. I want to go lower, but the coils are maxed all the way down in the front. I have seen the springs and struts combo and it drops quite nicely. almost 3 inches.....2.7 or something like that if I remember correctly. What you need to ask yourself is, do you want to be able to adjust it maybe for winter or anything like that, because if you do, obviously you should just save up and get some coilovers. I mean the Form and Functon type 1 coilovers are not that expensive....only like 600-700, considering the prices of other coilover setups, and they have had some great feedback from what I have heard.

I have Ground Controls and the ******* owner of Gen5Alive sent them w/ BLOWN KYB AGX struts when he said they only had 3,000 miles on them.

Upon doing my research, quite a few people think the AGX's are okay. I would have gotten the Koni Yellows but there are 3 diff versions of Ground Controls for 5th gens and mine aren't compatible w/ the yellows. So I bought the second best, the Tokicko Illuminas for about $550 off eBay and they've been fine so far. I have them on the 1 setting as I don't care about performance. I lowered my car for looks.

I've heard the Skunk2 setup that you mention is a little stiff. But that setup can be had for about $600 on eBay new. Its up to you! However, the best coil spring's are Ground Controls.

I personally have the Skunk2 setup and love it.. Alot better than my previous setup.. Which was Eibach.. I have rode in a koni setup in my buddies 5th gen aswell and I prefer the Skunk2 setup..

Skunk2 sport shocks and springs are a good quality setup for the money.

How long did the struts last?

I would have gotten the Skunk2 setup, but I couldn't find any reliable reviews and whatnot on how long the struts lasted.

Honestly, on the Accord set-up, they seem to blow shocks like crazy. Not sure why, I have owned 2, and they both blew the crappy blues, in 1-1.5 years.

Only shock I would put money on is a KONI for a seperate strut/shock.
I suggest a simple Full coilover, there's PLENTY out there.
The spring rates tend to be higher, and you get a matched spring/shock combo. Plus, you can adjust the height at any time. Thats a plus in my book.

Just my $.02

Yeah i would like Omni's or Function form ones but their both non adjustable. Where I live it doesn't snow. I'm just looking for something really firm. I had Tein HA's on my 97 Civic coupe and had it all full stiff 90% of the time. I absolutely fell in love with the responsiveness and feedback in the steering wheel. I know that I have a completely different car than my coupe (96 4dr LX) but I still just want to drop it on some nice wheels to go to work with. It only has 75,000 original miles and all the bushings are in pristine condition. I just want that stiff touring feel and steering response.
I figured since i can't get adjustable dampening for less than 4 or 5 hundred bucks, I might as well try something new in the non adjustable category. As for the coils themselves, I'm pretty sure I'm getting ground controls.

If you get GC's from their site you can choose the spring rate you want.

Save up for the Illumina's they are well worth it. I have them on my 94 with the Skunk 2 2.5" drop and the ride is perfect.

How long have you been on the Illuminas? I've been on them for about 4 months.

I have a 1...maybe 1.5 finger gap in the front about about 2 in the rear. I have all my struts on the 1 setting.

I take it Illuminas are the way to go if you cant afford KONI Yellows right?
But for the price of KONI yellows you might as well go for Function form or Tein or something like that right?
