Default Ignition switch bad or alternator???

hey everybody...

Ok I have read alot of threads and came down to some of the faults... I have a 92 prelude si with a jdm h22a... I removed the cruise ctrl, pwr steering, and egr and just relocated the batt. For awhile (started like 4 months ago) the car would take a couple of turns to final turn the car over at differant points of time. Today was the worst. I tried turning the engine over to start but nothing happens (the engine won't even turn over). It can't be the batt. because all the wires are secure and all grounds are secure (Acutally I have not checked the ground by the thermostat). The CEL came on for good (of course it came on at differant times due to egr removal) and I noticed when I would turn the key off and then just to ACC, the CEL would stay off until I either pushed in the clutch or tried turning the engine over. So I waited until the CEL was off and quickly tried to start it and it did lol. Also my tach is going crazy, it would go to like 2,000 rpms and just drop and stay at 0 then rise up to what ever rpm...

I think my Main Relay is bad but am not sure. I'm just seeing if anybody has had a "similiar" prob. like this. If so, please feel free to through in your .02 or personal problems of past.

EDIT: I have checked everything from the grounds, replaced main relay, all connections are good..I replaced my radiator because it was sorta spraying everywhere and I think some coolant got on my alternator... could this be the problem?

i know the starter takes 12vdc for the relay to open... I checked the voltage and theres 11.65 vdc getting through... I didn't know if the +or- .5vdc applied for this... will the relay in the started not open if there is 11.65 vdc applied???

You said you're getting a CEL, have you even checked to see what code your throwing?
