Default 2nd gear lockout on downshift???

Hey,
'00 ITR tranny has me locked out on downshift to second from third. Everything else is fine, no grinds and other gears work through up and downshifts. I can downshift to 2nd if at a complete standstill or slow roll with lots of double-clutching. Thoughts were the synchro for 2nd but there is absolutely no grinding just lockout! Gear selector? I removed the shift fork springs and everything looks good. I'm at a point where nothing is searchable for answers. Thanks ahead of time.

Replace the detent bolt washers with new washers then try again.

If that doesn't work then it is likely something with the 1/2 sleeve set.

Are the crush washers specific to Honda via dealer or available through retailer?

I've never tried to use anything other than the OEM Honda washers so I can't say for sure.

Alright, replaced the 1/2 sleeve set, 3/4 sleeve set, 2nd gear fork, and detent washers. I can select 2nd but getting grinding now. Everything is installed correct. No grinds for 3/4. I shouldn't be getting any grinds for 2nd!! Very confused now. Could it be the change holder??

Now that you mention it that spring would be responsible for driving the fork/sleeve up into place. If it was weak it would not be able to get the sleeve into place and potentially cause a grind??
