Please help! car is stranded....
I have a 91 integra 4 door and out of the blue after trying to accelerate at a light, The car just sputters likes its going to shut off for a few moments then actually dies.
It would not start period after that. My and my friend bought some starter fluid which caused the car to start.
So im assuming its the fuel pump or the filter?? i dont know. What is the best way to test? How easy is it to replace the pump. IDK please help. thanks joel

ok, i am a 3rd gen guy moreso than a 2nd gen.
that said, when you turn the key to the on position the fuel pump should start pushing fuel through the filter so the motor can start. if you disconnected the fuel line, it would spray out of the end of the line instead of going where it normally does. spray would confirm your fuel pump is running.

So i replaced the fuel filter and it seems that the pump is ok because fuel was coming out of the lines once i replaced the filter and turned the car to the on position. I wouldnt say that it was spraying out but leaking at a fast pace. I pulled the spark plugs and two of them had oil all over it. I cleaned them and reinstalled and still the same problem. Like i said, i think its fuel related because it turned over with starter fluid. WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE?

I would just have it towed somewhere, although if I had to bet I would say the distributor went bad. This happened to my friend in his DC and it ended up being the ignitor as someone already mentioned.
Sounds like your injectors aren't firing.
If it runs at all with starter fluid, you have spark. If you have fuel pressure, the pump is good.
has to be the injectors. Check fuses, wiring, ecu.
is there power to the injectors?
BTW, you can post these kind of questions on www.driverside.com and get free help from expert mechanics. Like me :D

uhm is there a fuel pressure guage port on your fuel rail?
if so, hook up a fuel pressure guage anything above 40 should be good. also test fuel pressure regulator as it may have failed. Does the car throw any codes?
