Lug got stripped from lug nut... Help!
OK, swapped wheels with a friend, when i was putting the lug nuts back on, i stripped one of them. Who will take the rim off and press a new stem(what are they called) back into the rotor or whatever. Also how much do you think it will cost? I need to get this done tomorrow, i can't drive on 3 lugs ;[ (yes it's a civic, but you guys are more helpfull) and please no bashing, i just need help. Is it something i can do myself? Is the lug pressed into the rotor or something else?
you stripped the lug nut, and also the stud?
the lug nut you can drill off, or if you have an extra socket, hammer a socket one size too small onto the nut and take it off that way.
the stud is going to be a pita to replace, you can have it done just about anywhere. the stud alone is fairly cheap.
if you have some time you can take everything off and do it yourself.

the lug nut i took off, so the lug is stripped (lug nut removed) to the remove the rotor you just remove the 2 screws with an impact screwdriver and it pops off??? then i just hammer it out and hammer a new one in or what?
actually you might be in luck if you goto sears and get a tap and die kit. You may be able to rethread the stud.
and yes thats about it, except its a pita to get to and takes sometime.

yeah i figured
pita = pain in the ***.
then again i consider jacking the car up and removing rim to bleed brakes a pita too
it will just take some time. if you have it you can make this a cheap project

bleeding brakes *sigh* i wish i knew how to do that otherwise i'd be doin my own brakes too......
the only thing involved is hammering in and out and takin those 2 screws off right? or is there something i'm missing?

give yourself a few hours and you will see
most people on this board are very friendly. so come back if you need help during the swap.I recently swaped out my fuel filter and had a bit of a problem unbolting it...many guys offered some online help
I guess i was just too much of a weakling
as far as brake bleeding, if you can locate the nozzle, you've half way done

bleeding should be done in the following fashion:
[front of car]
2------------4
--------------
--------------
--------------
1------------3
and you will need to get 2 people to do it if you dont have speedbleeders (www.speedbleeders.com) . i dont like the build of the speedbleeders but they do work. just keep the brake fluid reservior filled as you bleed. (the bleeder is a 10mm bolt) if you dont use speed bleeders, have one person unloosen the bolt 1/4 a turn, then have the other person press on the brakes all the way down, then have the other person tighten the bolt. then pull the brake pedal up all the way. Repeat until you dont see air bubbles

as far as bleeding the clutch its even easier. one man job. just find the nozzle that looks like the brake bleeder nozzle and unscrew 1/4 a turn. then pump clutch and be sure to fill the clutch reservior. (the bleeder is a 8mm bolt) Repeat until you dont see air bubbles.
oh, and be weary you dont want any of this crap on your hands
it causes kidney failure

where is the clutch resovier, i wanted to check that to see if it looks shitty or needed a flush or whatever cause my clutch don't feel like everyone elses, mine is like really soft for some reason, but it grabs if i dump the clutch, i dunno
look for a picture of an engine bay with SPOON socks on it.
the smaller of the two reserviors is the clutch...
its located on the opposite end of where your battery would be.. next to the end link of your type R strut bar.
btw, incase you dont know...be sure to get some clear tubing to attach to the bleeder nozzles... and have that directed into a can.

also, i just looked at the helms, and it says the lugs are connected to the hub unit bearing... will that just pop off or what? what about the spindle washer
take off the wheel. get to the hub. look at it. things will be self explanatory. the hubs should be very easy to get at (removing the studs). if they arent seized or rusted.
you dont need a press for it. just take a hammer and get to work, yes having a impact wrench will help. you will need to remove the heatshield. (atleast i would)
I've sliced my finger on that thing before.
just do it! its not hard!

does the hub unit bearing come off? and then i can put it on a bench and hammer away? come on i hate to get into things without knowing
i love do it yourself projects on the car, but the stud replacement wasn't one i could do. brandon, just take it to a garage to get this job done. i've changed pads, rotors, brake fluid, etc but i wasn't prepared (toolwise) to remove the hub and there is absolutely no safe way to do the job without removing the hub. i took it to acura and had it replaced for $110ish. you could take your car anywhere; i went to acura because i also needed an alignment.
Any competent Honda/Acura mechanic can do a SINGLE stud in about 10 minutes and get you in and out the door w/ the quickness.
I forgot how they do it but it was too much of a PITA for me to deal with so I just took it somewhere and paid some small bill.
