Default pass or no pass?

I always thought I/H/E would never allow you to pass smog.
I have a 2000 GSR, with
AEM CAI
DC 4-1 header
T1R 63mm catback exhaust.
everything else, motor wise, is stock.

i just spoke to someone and he said that I can pass smog as long as the engine is not altered.
is this true?

thanks!

anywhere but cali and id say chances are youre fine, but with how strict regulations are there, id say you might be pushing it. dont all cars sold in cali now have to be PZEVs?

I think it would be fine as long as the i/h/e is carb legal.

for the AEM intake, just look up on dmv.ca.gov for your EO number and have it ready for smog. as for the exhaust, that shouldn't matter. not sure about the headers.

for me in CA, i have an ebay CAI and magnaflow exhaust and i gave them an AEM EO # for the intake and they passed me i don't think the people testing have any idea, so just give them your EO.

lol ok i know about this first of all the aem cai and dc header should have an EO carb # but not your not yoru catback but it doesnt matter if u just trying to pass smog. (if u was getting ref to pass smog its a different story) but what is going to matter the most is how good your cat and 02S are doing... cuz that what going to make u pass or not specailly if its 95 or less.. but u have an 2000 gsr so the ecu is going to do all the testing and it going to read an see if that o2s and cat is working. and that what going to make u pass if those thing are in good conidition

Everything behind the cat is fair game to do whatever you wish to, as long as it does not make it so loud as to exceed the legal sound limit.

However, the cops do pull people over for aftermarket exhausts, whether or not they actually violate the law.

I have the overpriced AEM CAI, simply because it has the CARB EO sticker on it. Its the same $15 pipe you get from an ebay intake, and the additional $150 is for the sticker, but $150 to not be hassled during smog checks was worth it to me.

Does the short ram have a CARB EO sticker? Same for the DC header.

Answers to my questions are the same as to yours.

just to remind people, if you find the EO# for the AEM CAI, just use that for your ebay intake. worked for me twice already with different smog inspectors. if they ask, say the sticker came off with wear. just be sure to conceal anything that says something other than AEM on it. most of the time the inspectors don't know any better.

I believe headers and intake must have carb sticker to pass...and exhaust might get sound tested, if you pass the sound test they will give u a certificate for that too
I got sent bcause i had a EBAY intake with no carb sticker...be carfeull..

yeah that if u get sent to the ref u have to have carb # for any mod u have... except exhaust and yes that it done by sound test which cant go over 95db and its not at idle when they test it lol

easiest way to pass is have a functioning egr, pcv, and cat most places dont really care bout the carb or eo numbers...i have no numbers on header or intake and it passes(barely) but it passes lol if they have to look up the numbers and all that its more work for them and not too many places are willing to do the extra work...and my exhaust is not quiet either...they will not check ur exhaust either for db violation the ref will do that if u have a ticket for modified exhaust or if u request a bar label for exhaust so that cops will not hassel u..

x2 EGR, PCV, CAT, O2 sensor, new fuel filter helps a lot surprisingly, clean air filter, accurate timing (a little advanced helps, around 17 or 18 BTDC)
