I picked up a set of tein s tech lowering springs today, I got them on craigslist for a good price. My question: will it be ok to throw these on my car (97 DX) with the rest of the suspension being stock? I race some autox, and this is my daily driver, but I'm in college and I bike to school/work so I don't put a bunch of miles on the car.

I know this will shorten the life of my stock struts, but I don't really care, I'm picking up some koni yellows once I have a little more money and find a good deal. Thanks!

ive had mine on stock struts for 40k miles and their just as good as they were when i put them on.

However this is not a race spring. its really soft, so it will handle like stock. So you should probably switch them out before dropping the money on the koni yellows, otherwise you wont even be close to using the shocks to their full potential. You also wont see much change in handling.

So do youre RESEARCH next time you buy something.

 

Ahh are you guys saying that the Tein-S tech springs will handle close to stock? Only lower?

 

yeah, I know they aren't a race spring... they have higher rates than stock, but you have them, so you'd know about there performance... I guess I put much more research into my struts... it is a DD though, so we'll see

honestly i didnt notice any handling difference from these springs. They ride like stock tho which is a plus. I looked into getting some yellows for them but after asking around i was informed they would not do much.
Bottom line my car still has a **** ton of body roll.

If you want to make youre handling better I would suggest a rear swaybar. Depending on if you have an eg or ek. For my ek i put on a 99-00 Si rear swaybar on and it was the best suspension upgrade I ever made. Definite improvement in handling. And it was $50. If you have a EG get a GSR rear swaybar and you wont be disappointed.

 

yeah, I actually have a rear sway bar sitting in my closet, I just need to buy endlinks, maybe I'll get some this weekend, any recommendations for that (something decent and cheap)

 

if you have an EG (92-95) then any Integra ones will work. If you have a EK(96-00) then you can either get some EM1(99-00 si) ones or CRV ones. Look in junkyards and craigslist for them. Also there are companies like blox that have them for around $40 new

 

do it for now but you will have to replace the factory shocks eventually
